Afternoon tea on the patio was blissful. We booked for a surprise birthday treat. Service was amazing, set in beautiful Norfolk countryside, sun was shining. We happily wasted the afternoon there. Will be back again at Christmas, very impressed!

I booked here for my mum's 80th birthday surprise meal, for 13 people.. From my initial enquiry to the day itself, everything went smoothly. We chose the Sunday roast platter menu and the food was delicious and very good value for money. Everybody enjoyed it and we all said we would definitely return. A massive thank you to Mel for patiently answering all of my questions and all the staff on the day who couldn't have been more helpful. Thank you for making the day so special.

Fantastic Sunday lunch for my partners birthday. We were seated in the conservatory as we took our dog with us. Being a warm day the windows and doors were open overlooking the lovely hotel gardens and countryside beyond. Service was friendly and attentive. We both had roast beef with all the trimmings. Everything was cooked to perfection ~ really struggling to find anything negative! Great choice of desserts and looking at other diners plates they all looked yummy with generous portions! Can thoroughly recommend!

I am new to the area and booked an afternoon tea to celebrate my mother's 80th birthday. What a disappointing experience. We drove up and noticed a very untidy garden straight away. No choice of sesting as they had pre decorated the window seat with plastic happy birthday banners. There was a card on the table that said 'harpy birthday' which gave us a good laugh. The host had to check in the kitchen for the specialty teas. When the tray was brought, the sandwiches were roughly cut, crusts on and the bread looked squashed. When I picked up the prawn sandwich, it was overfilled and squirted out all over the table. Scones were lovely, but whipped cream rather than clotted and cheap plastic jam rounds that would have been not out of place in a travelodge breakfast bar. Cakes were ok but nothing special. There was a dead fly on the windowsill and I really hoped my mother would not notice it, but she said afterwards as she was directly opposite it, it was the first thing she noticed! All in all a let down, and wishing I had taken her elsewhere.

We were initially concerned at the hotel entrance looked a bit dismal and decor needing an update. However from that point on everything was excellent. Our rooms were spacious and very comfortable with complimentary tea /coffee and water. I was particularly grateful to find both decaf and fruit tea. The staff were helpful and we found it so peaceful despite the number of occupied rooms. The breakfast menu was extensive and we all felt that everything was very good value for money.

We've just come back from afternoon tea to celebrate a birthday and everything was very nice. We were greeted on arrival at Broom Hall by the lovely Buddy who is a very friendly and gentle Golden Retriever and then shortly after by an equally friendly human who showed us to our table in the brand new and literally just completed restaurant on the site of the old swimming pool. The finger sandwiches were nicely chilled, generously sized and consisted of; Tuna and Mayo, Cheese and Pickle and Ham and Mustard all on different types of bread. There were fresh, warm cheese scones as well as fruit ones complete with strawberry jam and cream and a selection of cakes, macarons and tray bakes too. Broom Hall is almost 100% dog friendly, although dogs aren't allowed in the new restaurant where we sat, and I can recommend it as somewhere to go if you fancy being spoilt with beautiful surroundings as the gardens looked gorgeous. We didn't stroll around them however as today was rainy and thundery so we stayed indoors. As it was a midweek visit the hotel was very quiet and we had the restaurant to ourselves so atmosphere was slightly lacking but I'm sure on a Saturday night the place would be much busier and livelier. If I might offer a couple of small suggestions, they would be to have a different brand of strawberry jam on offer with the cream scones as the small tubs we had were noticeably missing anything that resembled an actual strawberry and were just blobs of sweet, pink jelly. Also, if the cream on offer was changed from whipped to clotted it would be so much more luxurious as for me, clotted cream is an absolute must on a jammy scone. The selection we were served wasn't the most imaginative as on visits elsewhere we have been offered a bigger selection of savoury treats but we still enjoyed what we had and at £16.95 each felt it was reasonable value for money.

I can’t agree with the negative reviews here I’m afraid. Probably the best Xmas meal I’ve eaten out and the best value. Plenty to eat, cooked perfectly and very tasty! Staff were lovely and we’ll definitely be back next year!

A group of us had our Christmas meal here last week and I have to say I have never been so disappointed with a ‘festive’ meal in my life. The highlight of the evening was being greeted by the beautiful golden retriever but, sadly, everything else was a complete letdown after that. The dining room we were put in was opposite the reception and we felt like the staff were watching us all evening. Also, it would’ve been nice if any of them had cracked a smile. One of our party, who was coming from Swaffham, was a couple of minutes late as she had trouble finding it and we were made to feel uncomfortable for keeping them waiting for her! They even suggested we start without her even though it literally was just a couple of minutes past the appointed time. The place had no festive atmosphere and the dining room was freezing cold. The table decorations were very tired with the glitter flaking off them and the crackers were the cheapest and nastiest I’ve ever seen. To start, I had the prawn cocktail which was okay but, mainly consisted of lettuce. For main, I had the sea bass, which was cold due to it being served on cold plates. I ended up not eating much of it as it wasn’t great as cold fish and vegetables isn’t that nice. No one asked if everything was okay with my meal despite me leaving so much of it. I was supposed to have the baileys chocolate torte for dessert but, they made a mistake with serving the desserts as they hadn’t thought to put name cards out with our meal choices on and only had the exact number of everything we had ordered (what sort of restaurant doesn’t have any spare food?). To save one of our party being upset, I gave up my dessert and ended up with the Christmas pudding, which wasn’t what I wanted and also, wasn’t very nice. We paid almost £30 a head for 3 courses and if you wanted a coffee afterwards, they charged extra! I felt like the whole meal was done as cheaply as possible with no consideration for us and the fact it was supposed to be a festive celebration. This is the only 3 course meal I’ve had where I’ve had to have something else to eat when I got home as I was still hungry! We wanted to support a local business by bringing our group of 17 here but, we will never visit here again after our experience.
