The location is quite good with quick access by car to nearby popular spots. The room was clean, however the Wi-Fi connection was very dodgy and workable at best, had to sit at specific locations and angles to get a decent coverage. With zero mobile network available, this was quite inconvenient for a 2-night stay. Forget about getting any work done.

A very lovely old property, tucked away slightly off the main roads. The house has real charm, though it is showing its age a bit. Unfortunately, the room had a musty smell. The breakfast buffet is quite limited and not really up to par. On the other hand, the pool and bar are really nice. Ultimately, the value for money just isn't right.

The hotel was dated and felt unloved and I’m sure it was magnificent in its time. Although the bedroom was comfortable in appearance the furniture was dated and there was a musty smell in the corridors leading up to it. Although our room was pleasant in appearance, only one of the windows could be opened making the heat in the room unbearable. The pillows were lumpy and made sleep difficult and the towel rail in the bathroom was running at full blast adding to the heat in the rooms from the hot weather. Breakfast left a lot to be desired because of the quality and attention to detail. The staff were lovely however there were so few of them and the hotel looks and feels like it is run on a shoe string. There is a lovely pool area outside but the grounds are unkempt again giving the view of the whole place being unloved. It is not a cheap place to stay and in my opinion there are better places to stay in the area.

This is a delightful hotel located in the picture perfect village of Mithian in Cornwall. We had dinner in the hotel and the food was excellent. Rooms were airy and clean but the star of the show were the staff who were incredibly helpful and accommodating. We had just lost our 36 year old Son in Law and we were visiting for the funeral in Redruth. It was a very sad time for the family but the staff were wonderful in helping us get through the week. A private area set aside for breakfast, booking taxi's and generally supporting us in every need. Their compassion and empathy shone through and we will definitely go back in happier times. Thank you.

It's a lovely, peaceful place in a lovely area, a classic english countryside stay. If if you re afraid of spiders I wouldn't recommend it as it is in the heart of the greenery. It could have been kept better as it seemed a bit old. And the classic moldy smell.. Ah it got me so bad I had to wrap my tshirt around my face. But that's kind of what you get when you go to countryside I guess.

Sarah and Paul went the extra mile to make our stay very special. We got married at the hotel 10 years ago and returned to stay the night for an anniversary treat. The food was delicious, the room was welcoming and comfortable and the service was superb. Highly recommend to anyone who wants somewhere special to stay in a beautiful part of Cornwall.

Simply stunning hotel - I simply do not understand the negative reviews! Gorgeous approach down the drive to a beautiful country house. Reception clearly labelled - kind friendly helpful young lady gave us all the information that we needed then even took in our luggage and carried it up the stairs - I felt a little guilty but I had admitted to having a heart attack a few months ago so really appreciated the kind gesture. Room nicely furnished with quality individual items so very different from the hotel chains. Well done! So clean, in fact that for the first time in 30 odd years of hotel stays we took to removing our shoes as soon as we opened the door! Clean bathroom with quality fittings - beautifully tiled professionally floor to top of walls - importantly the wc looked like it was brand new - so important. Breakfast was freshly cooked and was of high quality ingredients - quality over bulk and nothing kept heated again so different to the chains and their buffet offering. We are a very quiet couple and the lady attending to us was polite and professional and friendly without pushing it - just right in fact. We are here for four nights but are so impressed I couldn’t wait any longer and have left the review early. Some of the approach roads are narrow but the staff helped guide me to the best road

I stayed at The Rose in Vale while on a short break during the May bank holiday weekend, meeting a colleague who was visiting his father at St Ives. One of the main reasons I chose to stay here was the location & the fact it is pet & child free! If you want a good, quiet night sleep this hotel is ideal. I arrived too early to check in on the Friday, but walked to the local pub for a drink & bite to eat, when I returned my room was ready. I chose the cheapest room however it was pretty spacious & spotlessly clean, tea / coffee in the room plus some very tasty biscuits! On the Saturday I walked into Perranporth, there is a public footpath that runs adjacent to the hotel, it comes out in Perrancoombe, then it’s a quiet residential road the rest of the way. The same afternoon we walked to St Agnes, this was on a main road which is unpaved so not recommended. We used St Agnes & Daz cabs on the return journey. One other point poor phone signal (Vodafone) but excellent Wi-Fi (free) throughout the hotel so that wasn’t an issue. Like they say on their website, which is very informative, it's an ideal base for visiting Cornwall. I hope to return again soon with the wife & make use of their outdoor pool.
