Premier Inn Luton South (M1, J9)

On arrival at 3am after a flight, the receptionist was asleep and seemed most disgruntled that we woke her. She said barely two words to us and put the key on the counter. We were exhausted so went to bed and set an alarm for 11:30 so we could be up and out before the check out deadline. At 10:30 a member of staff entered our room. No knocking or anything. This woke us all up and alarmed us all. As a result we all got up and prepared to leave as we no longer felt comfortable there. On entering the bathroom, it was clear it was filthy. Heavy scaling and mildew all around the shower. So we opted to leave and shower at home. When about to leave, we noticed debris on the carpet from the previous guests. Neither customer service nor standards of cleanliness are anywhere near acceptable at this Premier Inn.

Like other reviews have said the hotel is very tired looking. Our bathroom in particular was not very welcoming and to the usual premier inn standard. The staff member who greeted us was also not very welcoming. Thankfully other staff members were the opposite. Particularly the lady who was working breakfast. Very pleasant. No evening food served here, just breakfast. There is a Harvester next door and we ordered a take away after a long day out. Vending machine is a rip off so please make sure you’ve plenty of cold drinks and snacks or you’ll be paying £2.70 for a bottle of water. Breakfast is still all you can eat but made to order. It was a nice enough breakfast. We only paid £52 for the night so you know it’s not going to be one of the best PI’s. We just needed a bed for the night after a day at Wembley, this served that purpose and was just off the M1 so we could get back on with our journey the next morning. I would stay again for that price.

There was several thing I did not think was very good. The bathroom was very tired. The room was quite tired as well and not as good as previous Premier Inn's. There was only one towel in the room. This was the same in other people's rooms. There was an accident on Saturday and someone required a couple of plasters. The receptionist said the hotel does not have a First Aid Kit. Surely something like this is a must in a hotel.

Was not told at check in that you needed to enter car registration on a key pad when you arrived just happened to notice it as we went out. Check in could have been more welcoming, Bathroom was dirty. Rusty soap dispenser.Groating shower dirty.Pipework at base of sink area dirty.Edges of mirror corroded Floor lamp not working. Night porter very helpful and friendly. Wouldn’t stay again

Booked through Holiday Extras with car parking. Good location for the airport. Hotel was unclean. Service terrible. We arrived late on the evening and there’s was no welcome whatsoever, we were just asked for our names and if we wanted to add breakfast. Our room key was put on the counter and the guy just left and went out the back, I turned to my wife and said can you believe that? We didn’t know where to go and the guy on reception was nowhere to be seen, terrible first experience, eventually we found our room, 232, it hadn’t been cleaned very well but neither had the hotel, I think the vacuum must have broken. Only two towels for a family of 3, crumbs all over the desk chair. Dust and cob webs all over the room. We had breakfast the next morning but couldn’t wait to get out of there. Had we arrived earlier I would have complained but I don’t suppose I would have gotten a reply from the reception guy. I wouldn’t use this hotel again, no way!

Highly recommended. Great location. The beds are amazing, and all the front desk staff are very helpful, including Sylvia, Shobana and the lovely night desk lady who helped me with my emergency printing. Great breakfasts too. Many thanks to you all and see too soon.
