Beautiful location, cosy room. Very clean. Lovely view comfortable bed. Easy self check in. However if you're on the larger size you may struggle to use the shower and loo. Check out is very early at 10 am and unable to check in until 15.00. The owners were a little naughty and didn't tell us the restaurant was closed however there are some nice eateries close by. Parking a bit of a trek we were lucky with the westher but this is everywhere in Mevagissey. We would stay here again

Avoid at all cost! Probably one of the worst meals we’ve ever had! £60 for lunch for 2 adults and 2 kids and it was awful, chips were good but apart from that nothing was edible, kids pizza was horrible, smoked salmon was grey and looked terrible and scampi was the worst I’ve ever had, was frozen overcooked and grey! Surely in Cornwall fresh produce should be being served not frozen out of a packet rubbish and then to charge £14 is a joke!!!

On arrival at the Wheelhouse we were disappointed that it was closed. We followed the instructions to let ourselves into the self-catering cottage to the side of the property. It was rather grubby looking, the outer door was in need of cleaning as was the stairway. Once inside the cottage was reasonably clean with some exceptions. The bed was comfy and we slept well. The bathroom needs a deep clean, especially the floor and skirting boards. The loo seat is wonky. I appreciate that it is difficult looking after old buildings, however the sash windows need sorting. None closed properly and certainly weren't secure. The stairs inside the cottage are very steep, not suitable for the elderly or young children. The location is good and this could be a nice property with some TLC and attention to detail. It feels very unloved. I couldn't tell you about the hosts as we never saw them. The Wheelhouse was closed whenever we went past. We had hoped to book breakfast there, but instead had a lovely breakfast near the Lighthouse at a takeaway. There were plenty of nice places to eat and drink in the village, just not the Wheelhouse!

We received a very warm welcome on a rather damp day and were able to sit in the window watching the world go by. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful and the food was good too. One of the few places in old fishing villages where you can get in easily with a wheelchair.

Oh dear. Perhaps we caught them on an off day. At least I hope it was an off day and that it’s not always like this. The chap at the next table sent his fish and chips back for being cold; another customer walked out demanding their money back after seeing their seafood platter: and then there was our experience. We waited a fair old time for any food to turn up - and then a plate with something that looked like one of our dishes went past, with the man carrying it lifting up the bread to check what was underneath! In full view of us all. We had been asked about allergies - well we are all allergic to having our food manhandled in public immediately before it being re-routed to our table. The sardines and chips were very good, if slightly over-grilled, but the prawns in the Marie Rose sandwiches tasted of nothing and gave the impression of just having been defrosted and covered in a thin tasteless sauce. The mussels were ok but the sauce was thin and unpleasantly sweet with no hint of wine or cream. We felt sorry for the young pair handling the front of house because there are clearly serious issues behind the scenes for which they are left to take the flak. But we just can’t get over the ineptitude of the man who seemed, from where we sitting, to go straight from answering the phone and handling equipment to sticking his fingers in our food. It’s such a pity, as we’d been there a few nights earlier, and while it was slow, we enjoyed the food and said we would go back. It should and could be a gold mine, even in September, with a bit more focus on the basics. But sadly, two visits is enough.

Chris and the team managed to fit us in to the Wheelhouse even though I had made a mistake with the booking. Everyone was really friendly, the food was great and just to sit outside, having dinner, and watching the boats come in and unload their catch was such a treat. Plenty of parking nearby and cheap too, although the drive around the harbour took some attention. Didnt have breakfast as we got up early to take in the sunrise and to take pictures and saw seals swimming in harbour too!

Clean and nicely planned room on waterfront. Its just a few rooms above a restaurant so easy to find food. I arrived by boat from Fowey which made it extra fun.

To call themselves a seafood restaurant is a joke,I ordered the special which was a surf and turf and was priced at £28 when it arrived, there was no onion rings no salad garnish the steak I asked for it to be medium and it come out like leather one small prawn which was advertised as a tiger prawns and two very small scallops very overpriced also service wasn’t great long wait for food and when it did come was just lukewarm Will not be returning
