This was our second time at Chateau de Courtebotte. Three couples who stayed previously for a wedding nearby (Chateau Rigaud). We loved it so much we built an entire second holiday around touring France and staying here again. The welcome is second to none. Great service, amazing rooms (we had the Patio suite, Capri suite and the Concerto room). All huge and very tastefully decorated. There are extensive grounds with a heated swimming pool. Breakfast is outstanding. Freshly made every day with a huge selection of French treats. Evening meals are available to order, we went for the charcuterie platter with wine which was outstanding and far too big!! This was our second visit and it will not be our last.

Massive modernisation of small Chateau along with large spa/conference style hotel in superb landscaped grounds. The good: Reception- excellent, ALL staff here were kind and professional The rooms- comfortable and good size (in the large modern area) The facilities- Spa, 2 pools, driving range etc - superb. Location- close to Beynac and The Dordogne in delightful setting. The Bad- (Very little) But we must include the Design Team for the large modern block which contained most of the bedrooms, and who don’t seem to have attached much importance to personal hygiene ( in my opinion) Do French people not wash their hands after visiting the w.c..?? This large block was apparently only opened this summer yet the large bedroom has a single w.c. WITHOUT A WASHBASIN. To wash one’s hands, one has to leave the w.c. Walk through the bedroom to the far side of the room and then enter the shower room to use the washbasin in this room - which DOES NOT HAVE A WC, even though there’s plenty of space for one! After Covid, the importance of personal hygiene is now increasingly accepted as being of paramount importance, yet here there are numerous surfaces that can be contaminated before one can wash one’s hands? Two of our party were health professionals and were appalled at what we all considered a potential source of a health risk. Very strange? The second negative was dinner. Long long waits, requests ignored or more likely forgotten and the quality was modest.- maybe just a bad night. The meal was not bad, just not up to 4* standing although this maybe due to staff training problems. I would stress however, these points did not detract from our overall experience which was very positive and we would certainly have no hesitation in staying here, should we return to this area. (but we will bring anti bacterial wipes to be placed in the W.C.!!!)

We spent three nights here in September. We loved the impressive drive up to the chateau, the reception was efficient and warm, the supplied parking was ample, the grounds were so very lovely, and the room was spacious, modern, comfortable, and pleasant. Everything about this hotel was done very well! The bathroom was lovely, with a stone walk-in shower and a separate toilet room. I wish they would have provided individual shampoos and body wash instead of the communal dispensers. And, I wish they would have provided individual lotions, but aside from the communal dispenser of hair and body wash, they provided no other amenities, which was disappointing for such a lovely hotel. (I was thankful for the complimentary bottled water they provided in our room.) The bed was nice as well as the pillows. The linens were nice, as well. Our room (either 36 or 37, I can't remember) looked out towards the nearby village...a lovely view. My only negative thing to say is about the breakfast. We ate breakfast once during our stay, and I was not very impressed. The scrambled eggs were runny and cold. I felt it was not worth the price they charged. (But, it certainly could have been an off day for them and that may not be the norm!) We had seen this hotel several years ago on another trip, and were looking forward to staying here. It lived up to the anticipation! We would definitely stay here again!

What an amazing place and amazing family running it. We could not fault anything. The idealic location, so peaceful and beautiful. A lovely swimming pool and beautiful gardens. Lovely rooms and amenities. Honestly, nothing is too much trouble, amazing breakfast and the best eggs I've ever tasted. Thank you, thank you, for a lovely few days. Highly recommend to everyone.

A beautiful, highly developed 'chateau' property, now a premium hotel and restaurant. Extensive parking for 8 of us on site, and a good bar for welcome beers! We enjoyed time around one of the two pools in glorious sunshine and warmth, then showers and change in spacious, luxury rooms and bathrooms. Fine dining in the restaurant, with exceptional food and wines, we had a great night. Breakfast was extensive with lots of choice of great food, before we left for another hot day on the road.

Beautiful setting, gorgeous adult pool with a terrace. We stayed in a 2 bed annex, not the chateau, chateau might not as well have been there as, although there’s a lovely lounge, described in great detail on their leaflet, there’s no bar. We were told the only bar is by the restaurant, which is obviously intended for a pre-dinner drink, as there’s no waiter service & drinks menu is fairly limited, there’s no atmosphere, either. No food available in hotel except fine dining lunch/dinner, not great, esp for kids/teens. We did have dinner, which was excellent, food & service. I think Monrecour needs to decide whether it’s a hotel, or a restaurant. Breakfast buffet was, just about, on par, with the Ibis in Sarlat, (sausages & scrambled eggs cold, no hot plate) but not a patch on Novotel, Mérignac Bordeaux, which was excellent. Many posher hotels offer casual dining. They could set up a posh snack hut, eg. see Chateau des Milandes stylish snack hut. Hotel seemed short staffed, a lovely receptionist showed us to our rooms, we buzzed to order some drinks on terrace, (doors to bar/lounge inside were locked!) same receptionist arrived, my son said it was a shame & felt like not ordering more drinks! Then our safe wasn’t working, same receptionist arrived.

We stayed in 2 nice rooms with good amenities although the coffee machine in the room didn’t work. The beds are comfy and the whole place is decorated high end. A bit annoying there was no way to find the luggage-only lift in the chateau when you leave but not a dealbreaker. Staff at reception (Magali) definitely up to help at any moment, including touching base with our travel agent. The thing that annoyed us was the restaurant which we had the half board option and the waiting staff didn’t seem to know what we were entitled to as part of our package. The first night, we chose what they said, the second night a more senior waiter told us the options were wider and we were annoyed we missed out on the first night’s option; the portions are predictably “haute cuisine” so therefore rather tiny. That’s ok because breakfast was excellent. There is a kids only pool so that was nice for us. It annoyed me immensely that no food or drink is allowed by the pool but you can order some from the hotel!! It’s 33 degrees, I think I should be allowed my own water!! We didn’t have a car with us and I think, to be honest, you need one! The roads nearby are Departmental so pretty busy for cycling and behind, extremely hilly!

This place is fantastic! It is in a beautiful quiet location and the gardens and rooms are immaculately kept up. We stayed in a nice building next to the chateau on ground level so no need for stairs (cuz there are no elevators in the chateau). The rooms were cleaned every day. There were 2 beautiful pools to swim in. Parking was free and nearby. There was a restaurant for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The food was delicious for dinner and breakfast was good, but they could vary the food instead of the same breakfast buffet each day. The reception desk was open til 11 pm and the staff was efficient and helpful. It is also very reasonable to stay at. It is centrally located in the Dordogne about 15 min drive to Sarlat. The only suggestion is to make the bedside tables bigger cuz they are too tiny. Otherwise a wonderful place to stay.
