The Cheshire

I cannot recommend this hotel. When I hopped into bed, I was struck by how old and soft the mattress was--I must have sunk a good eight inches. It crossed my that I would wake up with a crick in my back. Much worse--I was in knee-buckling pain and could hardly walk 15 feet. Despite doing lower back and hip stretches it did not improve. I was on a work trip so going to urgent care and getting a Rx for muscle relaxers was not going to fly. I had to cut the trip short and fly home that day while making an appointment to see my sports medicine doctor. A hotel should not have mattresses that are 15 years old and squishy. If you are prone to tightness in your back, I'd find an alternative.

I like the theme and the idea around the hotel, but it was dirty. The room had the previous guests dirty towel left in the room and a their lotion on the floor near the bed. There was hair in the sink and it just felt gross. The smoke detector top was missing in the bathroom. I doubt the carpets or curtains have been cleaned in a while. The breakfast was a nice spread, but the microwave and toaster tripped Everytime you tried to use it. The pool is small and the seating was dirty. I liked having the Starbucks nearby and the Basso restaurant was nice and convenient. If it were cleaned I would return, but sadly, I will not.

Kevin went above and beyond for my family when we were there for our daughter’s high school graduation! Made sure I always had a parking spot for my truck. Definitely recommend staying at the Cheshire. Definitely a different experience.

The Cheshire is an interesting, unique property, but ( with a couple of notable exceptions), I was astounded by the unfriendliness of the staff, especially at the front desk and in the hotel bar. C'mon, guys, St Louis, Missouri is supposed to be nicer, more hospitable state than, say, where I hail from!

Overall, the stay was good. The hotel has unique decor, fresh fruits, good breakfast, and fantastic coffee. The bed was comfortable. The room was not clean. I found several long black hair on the edge of the bathtub and the room’s baseboards were very dusty

We loved the theme of the Cheshire inn with the British writers as the room names. We didn't get the chance to try the complimentary breakfast since we were busy for a wedding event. Over all, the hotel is impressive with their English theme
