L'Orangerie du Château des Reynats

Very friendly staff, upon arrival we reported a problem with the shower, after day 2 we had a plumber, the problem was not solved and the solution was given at the reception: you can take a shower in the spa, we did not think this was ok, but after insisting we were given another room. We stayed in the Orangerie. . We also had little sleep for 2 nights due to noise from the pipes due to a problem with the water pressure not being OK and then during the days there was noise under the window from the Spaniards who had had a beer and were shouting under the window, so do not take a room at the front of the Orangerie and at the back where we first stayed there are renovation works going on and you can see on a scaffolding, everything in the chateau is also outdated, we heard from other guests and there is no air conditioning anywhere in the buildings. During our stay there were buses with Spaniards who were also staying there, so we had to find something to eat every day for breakfast during the first week, as everything was almost gone after their departure and the breakfast buffet was not replenished for other guests, after After reporting this to reception, it was slightly better on the following days. Furthermore, there is nowhere to have a nice drink after dinner, not even nearby, this hotel is not worth the money and is very outdated and in urgent need of renovation and is also not well located if you stay in one place for excursions, if you have to travel further than 75 km towards Sarlat and Bergerac, it will take you 1 hour and 45 minutes. You'll be done with the area surrounding the hotel in just a few days. If you like luxury and good service, this is not the place for you. The hotel is not the most expensive but not worth the money, there is little variety in the food and with half board there is only 1 menu, if you want something different you can do so upon request.

Rooms located in a building (the orangery) independent of the castle. Average bedding, no air conditioning. The first floor room is hot, you have to leave the window open without shutters and therefore bathed in outside light. Use of the fan provided is essential, not very relaxing. Despite a pleasant setting, the price is very high for an average room quality.

We were disappointed with this discovery. The setting is very pretty, of course, but everything is excessive. The value for money is not there... We pay for the setting. The staff is pleasant, but everything is excessive. A room where the night is 100€, dust under the bed, a dirty toilet, small and soft bedding, no air conditioning, in summer with a rather hot day it was already muggy... A breakfast buffet at 15€ for little choice, a new and very pretty spa certainly, but at 30€ per person for 2 hours it is expensive, no duo formula offered, an unheated indoor pool as cool as the outside... too bad. For being used to going to small estates in the surrounding area, this one is unfortunately not worth a 4 star. Positive point: close to Périgueux to visit the city
