La Maison des Buis

This is a lovely guesthouse on the outskirts of Falaise. We stayed for one night on a stopover from the Cherbourg ferry and would highly recommend it. The hosts Eric and Sylvie were friendly and welcoming without being intrusive and the guesthouse itself is one of the nicest we have stayed in in France. Comfortable, quiet room, powerful shower and a delicious homemade breakfast. Free parking right next to the property.

A lovely visit for 2 nights, hosted by Brigitte and Gilles. Very pleasant bedroom up a circular staircase. Gilles volunteered to take our case up as I find stairs a bit difficult. The bedroom was a good size with a nice separate bathroom. It overlooks a road but that didn’t pose a problem. The bed was large and comfortable. Brigitte phoned the only restaurant that was open in Falaise on the Sunday so that we could book a table. The second night we sat in their lovely garden and enjoyed a bottle of wine and some charcuterie we bought that morning. They were quite happy for us to do so and produced glasses, plates, cutlery. Breakfast was cereals and fruit juices, croissants, bread, cheese, a choice of 4 delicious homemade jams and some fresh, again homemade, petites madeleines. Lovely. When you arrive you can park on the pavement outside and once you have unloaded, you move your car 25 yards round the corner to a parking area. Do visit. We really enjoyed it.
