Finca Cardonales

We stayed at Los Cardenales Finca Hostel and it was a wonderful experience. It is a very cozy place, the view is absolutely spectacular, and the two people who attended us and work there were incredibly kind and attentive. Without a doubt, it is a place I highly recommend.

Good location with beautiful views. The room was very clean and comfortable. In terms of value, you pay for the view. It was nice and quiet when we went and the town is a short 10 minute max walk. We walked back most nights around 9-10pm in the dark but one night we took a taxi up and it was 20k. The hill was okay for my boyfriend and I, we were puffed out by the top but it is totally manageable for anyone with reasonable fitness levels, I’d say avoid if you have any kind of accessibility issues.

This hotel is worth it for the view. The owners were patient with us despite our lack of speaking Spanish. I saw some reviewers complain about the shower but ours was way better than other places we stayed such as Bogota and Leticia. Okay the Wifi didn't seem to be great but most of the cafes in town have wifi. We walked up to the viewpoint for sunset but it was crowded as a weekend. Honestly the view from the hotel is way more impressive.

First off, the location on ********** is wrong, as of this writing. As others said, not only is it up a steep driveway, it is about a 5-10 walk up a very dark dirt road from the edge of town. Secondly, it is not a hostel, it is a Finca... meaning a family house. As a result there are young kids crying early in the morning. Aside from that it is a lovely Finca, if that is what you are looking for and don't mind/are able to make a small climb.

Nice cheap base for cocora valley and salento. Pros: The finca has beautiful views, and although staff dont speak English (i dont speak Spanish) they were super helpful. The mirador is close by. Cons: steep uphil walk from town and it gets very dark as soon as sun sets. Very loud, could hear the music from the town up until 2am.

Hotel staff were attentive and our visit was pleasant. Despite not putting the ‘please clean my room’ sign on our door, the staff cleaned the room and made the beds during our 3 night stay. I would recommend this venue for future travellers visiting Salento.

GREAT stay! A 5-minute walk out of Salento. VERY nice environment: nature, colorful, amazing views, quiet, nice-strong hot water! Caretakers Fidel and his wife were incredibly helpful and friendly, a MUST stay, a MUST experience!
