Terrible, place hadn't been properly cleaned in several years (we found old tickets behind the furniture and under the bed). No hot water so couldn't wash for two nights. Appalling treatment, terrible attitude, ignoring our calls. Havent heard back about a refund, though they said they'd be in touch. Very loud from bar downstairs and from noisy street, difficult to sleep because of noise and from knowing that the place was generally filthy. Glasses and cutlery at breakfast simply unusable, unhygienic.

Don't waste your money here. Only 1 light worked in the room. Shower was boiling hot so couldn't use - the shower just filled with water as plug not draining, window full of cobwebs and missing double glazing so kept awake most of the night. The room was boiling hot all night. We were told breakfast was at 7am when we checked in. Came down in morning to be told sorry not till 8am because of Jubilee! No use to us when we needed to be somewhere at 8am. Totally disappointed.

Very run down, sticky floors, needs a good clean. The ceiling fan only worked with the main light on,the windows were rotten/rickety,the shower didn't have a temperature control, very dangerous and un usable(water was scalding). Full English breakfast was included and when it arrived the food had been cremated and was cold/inedible. The pictures on there website are extremely deceiving!!!

Booked a stay for my father. He had no remote control until he asked. In the morning he found there was no toilet roll in his bathroom... He had no hot water at all on another morning and was asked to go to another room where there was still no hot water so couldn't shower until the next day. The music was loud which was kind of expected. The only good thing was the breakfast.

We booked the Salisbury hotel for 10th and 11th May, through booking com as we were told on their website it was dog friendly, after a 2 hour journey we arrived to be told by the receptionist NO dogs! So we had to find another, one hotel that was dog friendly was full but the young lady receptionist found us the Scotland lodge b&b and self catering, 8 miles away.

On the plus side, it’s well located and a cheap room rate. We knew we weren’t booking in to the Ritz and as a place to sleep, it couldn’t be too bad - the room had a bed after all! But on entry, we were met by a swarm of flies and housekeeping had no fly killer - so first job was to find a hardware store. Two of the windows had signs saying do not open - mainly because the timber frames were so rotten, they probably would have collapsed. Various detritus from a previous occupant suggested the room hadn’t been properly cleaned and the smeared window glass and carpet stains confirmed that. The room decor was very tired, with peeling wallpaper, damp patches, no main light or switch for the huge ceiling fan. To get to our third floor room required the lift, which is locked from the ground floor - so every time you want to go up to your room, you needed to find a member of staff. The lady who checked us in was friendly but check out was the opposite - no eye contact, no ‘how was your stay’, no ‘thank you’. At breakfast, my wife asked if she could have a tomato with her veggie selection and was told ‘I’m very sorry - we don’t have any’. My full English arrived, complete with……tomato! Beware that Salisbury on a weekend is busy and the street bar opposite was in full swing until gone 0200.

Unfortunately I stayed at this hotel last night and it’s actually embarrassing to write this review. I fully understand that this is a basic hotel and that hotels have had a terrible couple of years. However there is no excuse for the room that I was given to stay in, it’s not just dirty, it’s also a health and safety nightmare. My room still had wee in the toilet from the previous guests and their rubbish was still in the bin. The bath had no shower screen or curtain so you couldn’t have a shower. The bath underneath was completely unsupported so if you had stood in there you would probably have ended up in the room downstairs. The dressing table in the room was completely falling apart and had a kettle on top of it, please remove this as it’s just dangerous. Only one bedside lamp working in the whole room, wallpaper peeling off the walls and curtains that looked like they had been mauled by cats. My question is if there is wee in the loo and other peoples rubbish in the bin, had the room been cleaned at all, I’m guessing not so I probably slept in a bed that wasn’t changed either. All in all a disaster

I arrived at the Cathedral Hotel to find it completely shut up with a sign on the window saying that the pub was shut. No bother I think, I'll call the phone line, the hotel must be up and running. Turns out not, I arrived in Salisbury to find the hotel I booked in July is completely shut up with nobody there. No cancellation, no email nothing. I popped to the Red Lion Hotel opposite incase they knew what is going on to find out its been happening for ages now. Completely disgusting, I was lucky enough to have a friends room to sleep in, but this is pathetic.
