MILFORD HALL SALISBURY by IHG

MILFORD HALL SALISBURY by IHG

📍 206 Castle Street, Salisbury
★★★★ 8.7 (71 reviews)

"The room was nice, but the view from the window was blocked by the roof. The location was excellent, not far from attractions and shopping areas, and close to the main roads in and out of the city. There were enough parking spaces."

Stonehenge Farmhouse

📍 Beacon House, Amesbury Rd, Salisbury
★★ 7.5 (12 reviews)

"This is a great self catering hostel. Bedrooms and bedding were clean and good showers, and the staff member, Mel, was friendly. There is a self catering kitchen with 2 cookers, two microwaves and 2 kettles, so we never had to wait to use equipment. There’s no options for cooked meals at the hostel, despite mention of them being available by prior arrangement - there’s just no staff around in the morning who would provide this. Amesbury has shops, supermarkets and takeaways, so this wasn’t a problem for us. The hostel is well located for Stonehenge and Salisbury, which had a great market when we went. Our children loved the free farm access, feeding the animals and playing in the woodland playground in the day, and using the sandpit and trampoline after hours, when the farm was closed."

📍 High St, Amesbury
★★★ 8.7 (106 reviews)

"This is an old country hotel. The nameplate says it opened in the 17th century. The facilities inside are well maintained. The exterior is relatively simple, and you need to carry your own luggage up the stairs, and the winding road is not easy to walk."

📍 29 Milford St, Salisbury

"The room we booked was converted from a mews, which was a completely new experience for us and quite surprising in an interesting way. Almost everything else was fantastic. The staff were extremely kind and friendly, and the breakfast was excellent — you really have to try the Indian spice omelette. They also serve coffee and tea to your table instead of self-service, which felt very decent and welcoming. The breakfast staff in particular were warm and attentive. However, because the room was converted from a mews, the facilities have some limitations. The ventilation is not good, and we experienced allergy symptoms after having the air conditioner on all night during winter. There was no proper heater in the room, so we had to rely on the air conditioner for warmth, and it took about 15–20 minutes to start working. Also, it did not feel very clean when in use. Another downside is that there is no real window — only the mews door — which makes the room feel a bit closed-in and affects air circulation. Overall, this hotel offers wonderful staff and an amazing breakfast, but the room facilities and ventilation, especially in the converted mews rooms, could be improved. If you are sensitive to air quality or prefer natural light and windows, I would recommend choosing other places or other rooms instead of the mews-style rooms."

Stonehenge Farmhouse ★★
"My family (two adults, three kids) stayed for two nights in July 2025. We just returned from our two-week trip, and my kids would tell anyone that Cholderton was their very favorite place we stayed. I'd recommend it to anyone, and particularly those with children. The staff are phenomenally friendly, organized, and kind. If you're looking for a family room and don't see one available on the website, consider calling or emailing the hostel. Our room was lovely, and perfect for our family. We found this hostel because we were looking for lodging close to Stonehenge. We did one of the early morning/late evening "Stone Circle" experiences (also highly recommended!), and wanted something close by. I can't imagine anything being closer to Stonehenge than this hostel. It was a straight shot down the road. We were Americans renting a car in England, so this is what we needed! The other lodging we considered was in Salisbury and it would have been lovely as well, but I'm so glad we ended up here instead. This hostel was a perfect location for our visits to Stonehenge, Salisbury, and a day trip to Durdle Door and the Bovington Tank Museum. If we'd had more time, the location would also have been great for a drive up to Avebury and other prehistoric sites in the area. I do think you'd want to have a car to stay here, but maybe there are public transportation options I'm not aware of. Our room and beds were perfectly comfortable and clean. We were fortunate to have an en suite, which was also impeccably clean, but even if we'd shared a bathroom, it would have been fine - there are many, and they all looked excellent. Our window looked out over the farm, and opening the window made our room very airy and cool - much appreciated during our July visit, and not the case for every place we stayed. Every hostel facility was perfection - the kitchen is fully equipped, the common room is perfection, and the back garden was loved by my kids. Security is very important to me, and we felt very safe at this hostel. We needed a code to enter the building, and a different code to enter our room. By day, the hostel is adjacent to a very sweet nursery school and on the site of the Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm. Parking is ample and off the main road. A major bonus is that hostel guests are able to visit the Cholderton Rare Breeds Farm as part of the room rate! I'd check on this benefit before booking, as it's so generous that I can hardly even believe it, but it was definitely true as of July 2025. We ended up changing our plans to include a half day at Cholderton during our hostel stay. (Sorry, Old Sarum!) This was a true highlight of our trip for my children. Note that we visited during Cholderton's business hours - this is not like an AirBnb farm stay, as Cholderton is a structured visitor attraction with staffing and clear routines for the animals. So plan accordingly, but plan to include Cholderton. :) I wish I'd taken photos of our room! But rest assured that photo"

"I spent one glorious night in their loveliest suite, and honestly I didn’t want to go home! The bath is top tier, and the suite is probably larger than my entire downstairs at home. The amenities were excellent, slippers, robes that actually fit my plus size frame, a Nespresso machine, super comfy bed. The breakfast was really good and eating looking over the river watching the swans and ducks float by was beautiful. I have some chronic health issues and the staff bent over backwards to be accommodating and generous, everyone I met was friendly and so helpful. I highly recommend, and I have already booked my next night there!! Stay for a while or like me, stay just one night as it is like a tonic."
