"We choose the Compasses (for my husbands birthday lunch) after reading the good reviews. The building is an 'olde worlde' traditional village pub. The menu is small but the choice is adequate. We both decided on the Rump Steak, Salad and Chips. The steak was nicely cooked, medium as we requested. The salad was a frilly lettuce leaf soaked in a sharp dressing. The chips were over overcooked, tasteless and dry. I don't consider a lettuce to be a salad and the chips to come from a packet. Needless to say we won't be back. "

"What a gorgeous place! Lovely furnishings and super comfy beds, lots of space, great to have a garden too. Only downside was the parking, you get given a residents permit remotely and have to take your chances on this tiny road, and if no spaces available tough luck .It was a pain but that was the only downside really."

"We arrived at The Stables (a converted stable block double story apartment) and were greeted with a delicious Victoria Sponge cake, and a perfectly clean apartment. The decor is quietly elegant and very comfortable. The towels are soft, white and plentiful, and the kitchen is very well stocked Ito equipment. We were easily able to prepare our evening meal. We had had lunch in town and didn’t feel like going out again. The area is lovely and quiet and well maintained. A clever use of old farm outbuildings. We really enjoyed our stay and had time permitted, would have loved to stay a few more days. Our apartment had wheelchair accessible facilities on the ground floor. Can highly recommend."

"The breakfast was amazing, and I couldn't even finish it all despite eating so much English! The room was right by the street and they even provided earplugs (but it wasn't actually that noisy)!"

Burcombe Manor

"Once again my stay at Burcombe Manor was perfect in every way. It's a lovely old house, and my bedroom was spacious and full of character, spotlessly clean and with a bed that gave me 10 hours' sleep. Breakfast was first-class, even at 7am which was when I asked for it, and the friendly welcome from Wendy and Nick was a bonus. I will certainly return."
