A-Rosa Gardasee

Where do I start with this amazing place? This was our first trip to Italy. We had dreamed of going for a very long time, and had high hopes. It did not disappoint. The hotel is about a half hour downhill walk away from the town of Salò, which is right on the Lake. Salo has plenty of bars and restaurants, and we had a lovely time sat with a drink and the free snacks you’re given, people watching. The walk back is quite steep but they have a free shuttle that can drop you off and pick you up again. There are also passenger ferries that take you to the different towns and villages up and down the lake, which makes this hotel an ideal base for exploring. The hotel itself is beautiful. It’s unique in its decor. It’s modern but still has some quirky touches, like swing seats which we loved. It has an amazing view over Salo and the lake. We stayed in a room with private garden and view of the lake, and again the view from our room was beautiful. The doors were sound proofed so we were never kept awake by the various birthday parties and weddings that took place while we were there. We stayed half board. The food was delicious. Breakfast was a buffet which had everything you could ever want. Dinner was a choice of four courses and a huge salad bar. The service very efficient and friendly. What makes this place so special is the staff. They are the beating heart of this hotel. They care about it. They’re proud and happy to work there. Our stand outs are Magda at the pool bar. She is very attentive, friendly and very good at her job. The bar staff were next level. Luka, George and of course the lovely Massimo the bar manager were just the nicest people you could ever meet. Very knowledgeable about the history of Italy. Very easy to talk to. They made our holiday so much better. Thank you all. We will definitely be back.

We had such a lovely stay at the A-ROSA Hotel in Lake Garda! The hotel itself is stunning – very modern, beautifully decorated, and spotlessly clean. The location is gorgeous, and our garden room exceeded expectations with a much better view than we imagined. The reception team were so friendly and welcoming – nothing was too much trouble for them. The bar staff, especially the bar manager, were absolutely fantastic; we had such a good laugh and really enjoyed spending time there. The spa was another highlight. The choice of saunas and steam rooms was impressive, and the heated indoor/outdoor pool meant we could still enjoy it on cloudy days. The rooftop pool was on the cooler side, but absolutely beautiful. Breakfast was delicious every morning with plenty of choice – and the added touch of free prosecco for mimosas was a real treat. We also appreciated the free parking, which made having a car really convenient. Overall, we had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend A-ROSA for a relaxing, luxury break in Lake Garda.

They charge 5-star prices, but the service is only worthy of a 3- to 4-star hotel at best. I agree with many others: this hotel promises much more than it actually offers. We even considered leaving early because it fell so far short of our expectations. The overall service ranges from mediocre to bad. I travel a lot for work, and this place feels like a Novotel or Maritim at best. Staff do their duty, but nothing more. If you need anything extra—such as a ride, help with a reservation, or a fix for an issue in your room—you’ll encounter unmotivated, unskilled staff who delay resolving your problem, or you won’t hear back at all. A 5-star vacation should be different: I don’t want to deal with all the administrative and organizational details; I want to be taken care of. The half-board food was also very disappointing—boring and uninspired, with no innovation, just the exact same ten ingredients every morning at breakfast. Dinner service was unskilled, and the food was even bad sometimes (fish not properly grilled, tasteless sauces and sides, etc.). They pretend to be a high-class restaurant, but it’s just embarrassing. The hotel is also much smaller than you’d think. If you really want to spend time at the hotel, don’t count on it, because you won’t find any empty lounge chairs at any time after 10 a.m. We were there in the middle of summer, and we couldn’t find a single lounge chair in the shade. The outdoor pool is in full sun all day long—so don’t go there with children or if you don’t want to get sunburned every day. LASTLY, THE SEAVIEW IS A JOKE! MOST ROOMS DO BASICALLY HAVE NO SEAVIEW!! You get a glimpse of the lake but that's it. Only a handful rooms have proper sea view, they others don't - even if you pay for it. So we felt betrayed. We will not come back and are surprised how much some people like this, but I assume some people who review a hotel have just not seen much else. But honestly, as a frequent traveller, believe me, for the money they charge you per night, you can get so much more elsewhere!

We stood three nights in the A-Rosa Lake Garda and had a very mediocre experience. While the hotel is nicely located and the interior is modern neither the service nor the culinary meet a 5-star standard. The dinner was an impertinence compared to the richness of Italian cuisine, uninspired and absolutely not up to a high standard. The service somewhere between untrained and overwhelmed. It's a shame, the house could be turned into something, but there's still a long way to go. As a loyal guest of the Schlosshotel Kitzbühel (also part of the A-Rosa chain), we had high expectations, which were always met in Kitzbühel, but were disappointed on Lake Garda.

Was just amazed by the stay. The staff was brilliant and helpful, and the facility was fantastic. Breakfast was fresh. Loved all of it.
