Not impressed for the price. Had a mess up on a promo being applied at checkin. It was the first thing I asked them to check. They said we can ONLY check you in. Not change anything on the reservation. You’ll have to ask someone else. They checked me in and I asked again, well then WHO can I call or speak to, to which they relied well no one now because we’ve checked you in nothing can now be done?!?! So I complained that they didn’t tell me who could help me and then essentially BLOCKED anyone else from helping me when I called the 1800 Marriott number. To which I was told a case was created and someone would reach out within 5 days. It’s been 3 weeks so that’s their customer service for you. Dinner that night was very basic and not tasty at all. No one enjoyed their meal and it was expensive so we didn’t eat another meal there the rest of our trip. Some teachers we spoke to on a conference there said the same. The food wasn’t good. The pool lounge chairs are all gross and stained looking. The afternoon we arrived the lazy River was full of empty flogs filling it because no one tidies it up apparently. There were also plastic cups and beer cans littering the edges of it all the way around. My kids enjoyed the water slides the next day. But not all of them were even operating. So since that’s the feature we chose this place for and we’re paying over the top amounts for as entertainment we underwhelming as well. I won’t be recommending or returning.

Drury Inn & Suites San Antonio Riverwalk

We booked this hotel last minute going to San Antonio. We had been to the Riverwalk before and wanted to stay near there this visit. We looked at your usual big name chain hotels but they were either ridiculously expensive or sold out. We booked purely based off of reviews and price. Having never stayed at Drury Hotels before we did not know what to expect. It was a great experience from start to finish. We were greeted by a security guard in the driveway and told us where to go. The lady who checked us in was super friendly and gave us all the info about the hotel. We found out there is a ”kickback” every evening from 5:30-7pm. At the kickback you are entitled to 3 free alcoholic drinks and an array of foods including nachos, hot dogs, bbq pulled pork, salad, baked potatoes, beans and bread. They also have a great complimentary breakfast of sausage, eggs, yogurt, bagels, waffles, biscuits. The room was large in comparison to many of your chain hotels. There is a sitting area, lots of closet space and a sleeping area. Our room had 2 TV's and even though it didn't have a balcony, it did have a river view when you peeked out. This is a great value because not only does this hotel cost less than other Riverwalk hotels...you get so many extras. You cannot beat the bang for your buck you get here. Overall, great stay right along the riverwalk. I look forward to staying at other Drury properties in the future.

At check-in Israel the bellman was the only saving grace from this weekend stay. A four or 5 bubble rating is not just about the room or the view. In this case both were great. It is also about the service and amenities. I requested a bathrobe for my husband and myself. Unfortunately, only one of the two had a belt. I requested that our car be brought to the front as advised 20 minutes ahead of when we needed it. We even spoke directly with the valet and explained that we were going to get breakfast and would easily be back in 20 minutes. Well, 20 minutes later when we returned, there was no car. So, we waited about 15 more minutes just to get the car. We wanted to order room service for lunch but there is no room service between 11am and 5pm. Forget about maid service. I made 3 unanswered calls to the desk on our room phone and finally called the hotel from my iPhone on the main number. When we got back about 11am, the room had not been done. Oh, by the way, you have to request that room service be provided each day which I had done at check in. I was told that there was no guarantee that room service would be provided when we were out of the room after 5 PM that evening. I was also given the wrong excuse: “We’ve been very busy” with no “I’m sorry and I’ll get it corrected as soon as possible.” My husband found a maid in the hallway and asked her to clean the room…which she did right then. Getting help with our luggage on check-out was also a comedy of resourcefulness. We personally asked a bellman when we entered the hotel to help us. He said that he would be right up with the cart. So, 15 minutes later, I went out into the hallway and spotted a bellman in the hallway about 3 doors down. He said that his understanding was that the bellman had called the room (??) and that no one had answered (??) so he decided not to come up with the cart (!) and had cancelled our request(!). Incredible. So, at this point, the other people were not ready, so the bellman asked if he could come back after he helped my husband and me down. They were nice enough to agree to that arrangement. The hotel failed miserably for us on this stay.

The workers at this hotel are extremely nice. I’m not too familiar with the city but they were so helpful with making sure my visit to San Antonio was great. Pointed us to amazing restaurants in the area and other fun things to do. Sea World was pretty close and my kids loved it. The rooms were always cleaned and comfortable. My family and I enjoyed it so much. We will definitely be staying there when we visit again.
Fairmount Hotel
4.3/560 Reviews
San Antonio City Center
I had my doubts about staying in a “historic” hotel, after a rather unpleasant experience with a most uncomfortable historic Hilton in Albuquerque. However, The Fairmount was wonderful, having just completed a 22 month renovation. The hotel is beautiful. The beds are Stearns & Foster matresses with luxury Frette sheets and European style duvet that slept oh so well! Our room and bath were decorated in ultra stylish black & white with accents of gold that maarried modern comfort and convenience with vintage visual appeal. Our room was meticulously clean and fresh with housekeeping service daily without having to request it. Staff did everything possible to make our stay luxurious, from bringing ice to our room to fetching my phone charger that I left in my car, to turn down service. . We enjoyed beautifully crafted coctails on the rooftop lounge overlooking the city every evening. The Silo and Nonna have a magnificent wine selection and food is excellent. Friendly staff, clean, comfortable room with awesomely comfortable bed, great atmosohere. What else could you want? Did I mention that Riverwalk access is one block away, and the historic Hemisfair park & La Villita are right across the street? We never had to use iur car. A delightful place to stay!

Best Western Plus Downtown North

The hotel itself was clean and staff was friendly. Close to the base which was my purpose for the stay. Only issue I had was when I arrived at my room after check in the room was currently under maintenance. Not anything big it was just awkward. A lot of homeless people across the street but security kept a look after the property all night. Gas stations and two places to eat are walking distance so that was great for me. Overall there was no issues once I was actually settled into my room. A plus for me was at only one point there were kids running around inside, I didn't see or hear them but when I was walking passed the front desk I saw them telling the kids they saw them on camera and to please stop. More hotels need to address this so I appreciated that even though I didn't know it was going on simply because I have had terrible times other places due to kids running around. If I need to return to the base I will consider this hotel again.
