My favorite hotel I’ve ever stayed at. Gorgeous, clean, and a wonderful location. The restaurant was wonderful, and so was our server (Kayla I think?). Just a beautiful, enjoyable stay. My only wish is that it was more natural light in the room, but it’s the name of the game in city hotels. I am now a forever 1 Hotel convert. Also immediately bought a 70oz Santal candle in an effort to recreate the scent of the lobby in my home! I felt like I was in a spa the entire length of my stay. Run, don’t walk, to this hotel!

Location-excellent, what I think is a relatively safe area. Walked about a mile to the alcaztraz tour at pier 33. Great restaurants. Fitness center is top notch. Service fantastic all around. Views are ridiculous at the upper levels. Food in room and restaurant second to none. This hotel is worth the money and it wasn’t as much as many FS.

average visit, maybe I expected more given their reputation. I visited SF for a two-day concert so I expected not to stay too much in my room anyways. Picked the Ritz primarily for the location. Also this was my first time staying under my own name so always wanted to get the welcome envelope with my name on it. (They misspelled it 😔) Booked via Amex’s FHR primarily for the early check-in at around noon and late checkout. I received an upgrade to a City View room but I must’ve arrived too early because my room was not really prepared. It had a few missing amenities like slippers, dental kits, combs etc. No welcome gifts other than chocolate. Only ate breakfast there but food is okay. Great portions though! Most of the time, I left the hotel at 10/11am and came back after midnight. One time no valet was there to pick up my car so had to call and request someone to pickup my car. Otherwise, all other services and staff were pleasant. The bedding and Frette linens were fantastic and it helped me sleep well. You also get a bottle of water EVERYTIME you pick up your car from the valet! I actually really like this since the only thing I could bring to the venue were sealed water bottles! Wifi was good, great for work and meetings. For a 5-star hotel, it wasn’t amazing compared to what I had heard. Might pass next time I’m in SF.

Great stay with a great in-house Indian chef at their restaurant. Food was excellent. Not a grandiose property but was excellent for a base for day trip around San Francisco and walking out in the city. Staff was excellent. Only minor quip would be that I supposedly got a 2 level upgrade on my room. However, the view of the room was horrible and on a relatively low floor. I guess you need a ”20 level” upgrade to get a nice room. That said, having booking through Amex FHR and having those benefits, it made the stay nice.

Staying with children, the hotel is next to Moma, and it is also super close to Union Square, the commercial street. The breakfast in the hotel can only be eaten at the small restaurant on the first floor. The product is good, but the price is a bit outrageous, and a breakfast with a tip costs more than 100 knives Personally, I don't think it's worth it. It's better to go out of the hotel and eat on the street. The size of the room is small, suitable for two people, and it will be a little crowded if there is one more person.

I used to be a frequent guest at the W SF back when it was Starwood but had not visited since Marriott took over the W Brand. I did try and stay last year but before arriving I read that the restaurant was closed and I asked the hotel what they were doing as an alternative, but they had absolutely nothing for Platinum Breakfast (other than 1k points per stay which is a HUGE downgrade), so I opted for another hotel. I had high expectations for this stay as I had previously loved this hotel, but as a frequent traveler in Marriott brands and having one of their Highest Elite traveler statuses (and staying at W Brands lately), I knew service levels were still suffering post pandemic. Unfortunately, it started low right from the beginning. I had confirmed a Studio Suite in advance. When I arrived, I was given a corner room that almost seemed smaller than standard rooms (Room 2109). I inquired about upgrades to larger rooms, and I was told no, because it was a busy weekend, and nothing would be available. I checked on the app and saw that every room type was available for the length of my stay and beyond. I was basically DOWNGRADED. Once settling into the room, then I realized the major issues. Smaller rooms should be easier to clean, right? Well, this one not only had carpet stains, but I quickly found out that the ”Marriott Commitment to Clean” was actually a Commitment to Ignore. Not only were their stains on the carpet and dust and dirt in the windowsills, I found a previous guest's room keys sitting on the counter. Obviously, the room was just ”re-set” and not inspected or cleaned at all. I guess the promised sanitizing was out of the question. We then went to get some ice and noticed that the ice bucket was half filled with standing water. It was disgusting! Thats not the worst part, I then found a pair of women's ”play-style” lingerie slightly soiled sitting on the floor by the sofa. I mentioned the cleanliness issues to the Front Desk, but the representative simply stared at me and then asked if there was anything else I needed? I should have been a bit more insistent that they take it down, but I was so shocked I did not. The room setup, although smaller than what I wanted and pre-confirmed, was also not great. There is no storage at all other than the closet. There are no drawers at all or other places to keep clothes or anything else. If you have two suitcases, you are going to have to keep them out as there is no place to put them in the closet. Other than the Front Desk and Room Condition, we had a nice stay, although the Room is really what we paid for. The rest of the staff we interacted with were friendly and helpful. The breakfast staff were great, and the food was amazing! Kudos for them for sure! Actually, the only place I was every recognized or thanked for being a Marriott Elite was from the hostess at Breakfast. Lots of little touches that make this hotel stand out from the rest. The location is excellent, 5 minute walk to the metro station, shopping centre, restaurants and ferry terminal. Free self serve laundry, which was perfect for us as we were in the middle of a big trip. Vending machine downstairs which was very reasonably priced. Free coffee in the lounge area. Staff were very helpful too and more than happy to answer any questions and give recommendations. My only slight gripe would be that the rooms were a bit small, but I’d have no hesitation in booking this hotel again in the future.

My room and furnishings were acceptable for my four day business stay. The room door has large gaps around it, though. This permits all hallway noise to be heard in the room. Worse, it allows all the ********* smoke into the room. My coworker was two floors up from me and complainedbabout the same issue I had trouble sleeping because the ********* smoke was so thick in my room. I stuck a towel under the room door, where the biggest gap was, but I had nothing to block the gaps on the top or the sides of the door. Without the ********* smoke issue and some noise issues, I would recommend Hotel Icon to male travelers.

If you love the experience of a European hostel with the comforts and convenience of an American lodging, this is the place to go. For starters, Space: the common room which I assume used to be a ballroom is very spacious and serves as dining as well.(btw, don’t miss the complimentary breakfast they offer in the morning.) the ample seating serves as a great atmosphere for meeting other people. While other people complain about how dated the decor is, I think it adds to the homeliness and novelty of it. Plenty of solo use bathrooms on each floor. And the beds are quite spacious. Location:it’s situated right next to Chinatown which is great for when you’re craving a quick Dimsum. It’s also a nice 15 minute walk to the piers. I would absolutely suggest using the trams to get to the west side of of San Francisco ie the bridge or presidio, but I’m a walker so it took me a good 1.5 hours which was a good workout. Staff: they were very friendly and informative as well as helpful so absolutely no complaints there. Security: I believe the doors stay locked after 1800 which require code or fob access. They make you wear a tag to identify you as a lodger which is added security. All in all a great experience, I would definitely come back here for my San Francisco trips.it’s by far one of the best hostels I’ve stayed in.
