Did not have high expectations, so it was a very pleasant surprise to find a very good, recently renovated hotel with functional but spotlessly clean, spacious rooms, comfortable large beds and a very helpful and friendly staff. One major drawback though is that they only have hot-water on the 5th floor, something that is not mentioned anywhere at time of booking. While the 'cold' water is not exactly freezing given the outside temperature, still one would have expected a hot shower for the price charged. The adjacent coffee shop is part of the hotel, they serve a very good breakfast but during the rest of the day they are hopelessly slow to serve up anything more complicated than a can of soda (on departure they were unable to prepare a sandwich in an hour, by which time we had to leave hungry...).

Hotel is modern, well-kept. Our room was small but adequate, good A/C, good bed. No hot water. We are told people in warm climates don't want hot water for showers but that's not true for all tourists, some of whom find hot showers relaxing. Fine view from the breakfast room at the top but otherwise no prepared food here. Easy to walk to restaurants, etc. from this hotel. Nice staff, friendly and helpful.

My wife and I stayed 3 nights in January 2023. San Jose del Guaviare is a relatively new town of 56k people including a large military presence in barracks on the outskirts of town. Hotel Quinto Nivel is probably the most modern hotel in town with the best facilities. Breakfast is on the 6th floor rooftop with open sides looking out over the town and a view of the nearby Guaviare river. Food is simple but included fresh fruit and fruit juices, cereal, yogurt and freshly cooked eggs anyway you like with tomato, ham and mushroom sides. And of course excellent Colombian coffee. If you like tea, bring your own bags and be prepared to explain how its made! It helps to have some Spanish as English was not spoken well by anyone we met. There is no hot water in the showers (at time of writing, this was typical of all San Jose's hotels) but on request you can have a hot hot-tub for two on the roof (out of sight of the eating area) run for you with clean towels and towelling robes provided. If you want a drink (including alcohol) , the receptionist will nip next door to the Tik Tak cafe and fetch one for you but we were asked to settle that bill directly with the cafe. A bit strange but it all worked easily enough. Our room was quite small and basic but was very clean, had reasonable wifi and AC. All staff were extremely friendly.
