Unfortunately, our experience at this hotel was far below any acceptable standard, especially considering the price we paid. The first impression was disappointing – although check-in was stated to begin at 4 PM, we arrived at 4:20 PM and the room still wasn't ready. We were met with bags of linens and a cleaner who had just started cleaning. We were only able to enter the room at 5:20 PM, without any prior notice of the delay. Had we known, we would have stayed longer in Florence instead of waiting around unnecessarily. After finally entering the room, I was met with another unpleasant surprise – the bathroom floor was wet from mopping, and I slipped the moment I stepped inside. Given everything that had already happened, this was the final straw. Additionally, while the parking is technically nearby, it is accessed via a flight of stairs, which is extremely impractical if you have luggage – as we did. This information was not provided, but it absolutely should have been, as it’s crucial for many guests. An even bigger issue was the shared space – a kitchen and dining area used by all guests, located directly outside the rooms. Nowhere in the accommodation description was it stated that the rooms are within a shared apartment. Had we known that, we never would have booked our stay here. You can constantly hear other guests literally sitting outside your door, which does not contribute to any sense of privacy or comfort. The room also lacked basic amenities such as a trash bin, aside from a small one in the bathroom. And as an “apology” for everything mentioned, we received a voucher for their shops – which were closed every time we tried to visit. In short, a lack of transparency and a complete disregard for the guests. A huge disappointment and a poor experience I wouldn’t wish on anyone. It’s a shame, because this accommodation could have had potential – if it were managed by someone with more professionalism and respect for their guests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Capitano Collection hotel! The concept is fantastic — a diffuse hotel spread throughout the medieval town, giving new life to the historic buildings of the Borgo and making you feel like a welcomed guest, while wandering through streets rich with character and history. A special thank you to the thoughtful waitress at the Trattoria Fattoria Toscana, where we had breakfast. I was pregnant and received exceptional care and attention regarding food choices. Overall, this experience is highly recommended for anyone looking to truly immerse themselves in the spirit of the Val d’Orcia!

The concept is to renovate village houses into hotel rooms while providing breakfast and other amenities in another building. The rooms were nice, not great, but I still loved the concept. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at the "Palazzo" a few hundred meters away on a semi-covered outdoor patio. Breakfast was excellent but in late September it can feel like camping out. Shivering while sipping your coffee is not quite a luxury experience. We were here on a bike tour. We have toured throughout Europe and many times in Italy. This is the very first hotel I have ever encountered which charges to store bikes in a garage: 5 euros per bike per night. We were there for 6 days. I could understand if we had e-bikes that needed to be plugged into a power source, but ours were just leaned against the wall - for 5 euros each per night. Also be aware that the pool is off limits unless you are staying in the Palazzo. And the nice outdoor patio, you can only use it if you buy drinks from the bar. Lastly the staff at the front desk were thoroughly disagreeable. It was as if they didn't understand that we were the guests and their job was to welcome and assist us, not that we asked for much more than room keys. Having said that, the restaurant staff were gracious, friendly and accommodating. Again, I loved the concept, but the execution needs some work. Would I stay here again? Nope.

Beautiful accommodation in antique building inside the historic town, the rooms are very cozy and comfortable. The staff was very nice and helpful. Very good quality for the price, strongly recommend. San Quirico d’Orcia is in the middle of the valley which is in my opinion the best country side you can see in Tuscany

We booked a couple of nights at the Torre giardino segreto b&b for €205 per night. When we arrived we were told that our room wasn't ready yet, but that they would put us somewhere else in the Mughetto room on the 1st floor. The room is very detailed, baroque with exposed beams. The bathroom is small, with a non-working fan, a bin that had undoubtedly been kicked (by some rude guest) that just wanted to be thrown away and dirty walls. We dropped off our bags and took a stroll around town. We returned after a couple of hours and found the hair dryer (in its bag) dripping in the middle of the room, resting on the floor in a puddle of water and our beauty case with the bottom wet on the toilet lid. I asked for explanations and MARCO (the only positive note of our stay, whom we thank for his kindness and understanding towards us) informed us that the plumber had come to fix the broken siphon. She called the cleaning lady to tidy up the bathroom, replace the hair dryer and took the beauty case to the laundry to dry. Unfortunately the misadventures had just begun. In total we changed 3 rooms in 2 days (in the hotel and at the Portale del Transetto). The Borgo Capitano Collection experience is completed by breakfast in the garden of their restaurant with 13 degrees! Which we did the first morning recklessly (and luckily with a jacket), but which the second morning we refused asking for take-away. As soon as you sit down you will be given two cutting boards, one with jams/honey/hazelnut cream and the other with various types of bread and bagged biscuits!!! You will be asked for a hot drink and if you want yogurt, then from a table you will have to choose between 3 breakfasts. 2 sweet (cakes or croissants) and 1 savory. Note at the restaurant, we went to eat the Florentine steak and we asked to eat indoors (even though there were people in the garden eating with wool sweaters) we are accompanied to a room with open windows and door. Bill € 110 (without wine) to eat in the cold. We are not there. The joke at check-out, despite all the poor service, of the € 4 tourist tax in cash and without a receipt made us smile. A lot of appearance and little substance. Lots of young people willing to please the customer, but there are too many No.

We stayed one night at the Torre Camaldoli property, part of the Palazzo del Capitano widespread hotel. First of all, check in at 4pm seemed a bit late, but once we arrived, the room wasn't even ready and so we waited more than half an hour. To tell the truth, they were kind because they offered us a drink at the main building and above all Manuel was very friendly. The room was very basic, no mini bar, in the bathroom just dispensers for hands and shampoo/shower. Quiet environment, no external noises. Breakfast served at the Antico Forno restaurant. Honestly, having read the particularly positive comments, we expected something more.
