Maya Mountain Lodge

Location: Proximity to San Ignacio town , secluded jungle setting, and access to hiking trails.

Our jungle oasis The Maya Mountain Lodge was our jungle oasis. It is a two minute drive from Santa Elena and less than 10 minutes from San ignacio. We stayed in Agouti which had a good sized bedroom with a 2 person table, bathroom and a kitchen in the porch area. The kitchen was set up with a microwave , toaster, fridge, coffee maker, kettle, gas stove, and oven. We cooked several meals there which is always a welcome change from eating out all the time. We also had our own outdoor area with a picnic table and hammock. The grounds were a tropical arboretum with a lovely variety of plantings. We paid a nominal fee for a bird walk around the property. Levi helped us see 24 species including stunners like the collared aracari and the keel billed Toucan. The staff was very helpful helping us schedule outings, do our laundry ($10 USD) or recommend a pizza place. The pool area seemed fine but needed better seating. One night a concert in town was so loud that it kept us up until 3 AM - not the Lodge's fault exactly. Otherwise it was very quiet and restful.

Lovely property and excellent staff. They were extremely helpful with anything we needed. The rooms/huts were really cute and cozy. We would have liked a bigger bed but that’s the only thing I’d change.
