Not worth the money. Rooms and pool were OK. Checkin took almost 1 hour. Breakfast was too full and you can barely find a table. Elevators took forever to arrive, you could wait for as long as 10 mins for an elevator and once it arrives it stops on all the 10 floors before arriving at ground floor.

Our room was big and very clean. The bed was duper comfortable also clean. Service was just spectacular- we arrived past check in time and still had a lovely and welcoming reception. We stayed there before we went on the 4 day trek for the Lost City and they were so lovely to accept to store out bags there at no cost. Breakfast is nice, there's a few options from veggie to meaty. Location is also very good, close to markets and less than 10 minutes wlak to city centre, and still remarkably quiet. I'd recommend!

The stay was a wonderful one, thank you for the super-compliced service care, the perfect cleaning and always ready to satisfy the aesthetic image.
The food was of high quality, at a very fair price for what was received, the menu is varied, but they suddenly missed to extend a little more options, but that's right, all the dishes are a delicious, until it comes with gourmet stomach You will be happy.
A Maestro hotel in the care, ideal for family stays, and very nice facilities, the only thing needed in the hotel is a broader portfolio of social areas, such as Jacuzzi or Turko, from the rest: Deserved to be a 4-star hotel, overcoming all the spectaculars!
We'll be back until next!

We can go estelar for our honeymoon and are so happy we did! The staff is super nice, willing to accommodate any request (taking food to room etc) and very willing to help without expectation. Nurys and Victor were especially nice. I would recommend the hotel and would love to come back for a whole week to relax here!!!!

The hotel is the second time I visited and enjoyed it so much that I wrote again on TripAdvisor. The beach is quiet, but local salesmen are quite good and varied for all tastes. The facilities are generally in good condition, I hope to come back soon.

The hotel is very well maintained and clean with amazing pools and a clean beach with good security. The apartment we had had an amazing view of the sea and open air balcony to enjoy. The bed was comfortable, however, the pillows were too flat and very uncomfortable. We had an issue with the toilet leaking continuously, but we understand they resolved this upon reporting it. It's a bit strange that they charge for dish soap and a sponge to clean the kitchen utensils as well as water, however, in the end we didn't need to use either of these as there is a supermarket nearby where we bought these essentials for cheaper. It would be nice to see a few more trees and greenery around the pools to offer some more shade and cool down the pools a bit. They seemed to have daily activities around the main pool, however, we never received clear information about these. The same applies for other activities that we saw, for example, dance classes. The restaurants really were the biggest let down. Really low quality food that just didn't match with the nice surroundings. For instance, the hamburger was a cheap processed one that tasted like cardboard and their Pad Thai was really not at all Pad Thai but a spaghetti mixed with sweet and sour. The best option though was the buffet breakfast where they did have a wide variety of options that changed slightly daily. The sea by the hotel is apparently cleaned frequently and it has to be said this was noticeable. Also a plus here was that there was a lifeguard on the beach taking care of everyone's safety, something very rarely seen in Colombia! Overall, we enjoyed our stay and are very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend a couple of nights here, however it is unlikely that we will return unless the price dramatically reduces, along with the quality of the restaurants.

Facilities are brand new and food was incredible!
Staff was very friendly and most of the time was there to help.
However one thing I got really disappointed on was the cocktails. I’m not a beer drinker so I rather went for margaritas or piña colada. None of the cocktails I ordered tasted like alcohol for such a high price.
I’d go back!

Let me start of by saying that the staff at GHL Hotel were VERY helpful. The minute we walked through the door we were treated like family. The check in process was very easy and quick. We didn't have to worry about our luggage the hotel handled all of that. The room were very clean. The rooms had a small sink near the entry door which I'm not sure why, a small closet, small refrigerator which included snacks and drinks (at a cost of course). I did notice that the hotel did not furnish face towels. Only had 2 towels and a hand towel. I did ask the front desk if any face towels were available and the response was we don't supply those. We were able to pickup a few face towels at the dollar store. The pool was amazing (kiddy pool and adult pool). The loved the location of the hotel. Was not far from the airport about 10 to 15 mins. The hotel is not that close to a grocery store but its a 10min cab drive. There is a small convince store on the property but will be limited on some things. The hotel sits on the beach shore which I took a beach walk every morning. The hotel restaurant was EXCELLENT!!!. The food was outstanding and very cheap. Although we did not know that much Spanish the staff was very helpful to cater to us and using our phone translator came in handy. I would have never thought I would have visit Colombia but now that I have I can't wait until I go back. This was a truly a great vacation. Thank you GHL Hotel Relax Costa Azul for a wonderful time. I like to give thanks to all the hotel staff.

DDilara OnigkeitI’m so glad I found this place, it was just amazing! Great location, if you like spending some time surrounded by greens with a beautiful river close by. Loved my bed and the view I had, also the stuff was really friendly and helpful. I have been to many hostels but this was just incredible! Thank you so much for this experience, I’ll be back soon:)
GGuest UserMy wife and I had a terrific time staying at Hotel Don Pepe for 3 nights last week. Don Pepe is an oasis in Santa Marta as it is the former home of a wealthy gentleman ( Don Pepe!) and his large family vs a commercial hotel chain (while Don Pepe gets the name recognition, the real hero was his wife who produced so many children). This makes it a very special find for those who enjoy the taste of an authentic refined experience. - If you want a trendy (“ bougie” ) contemporary type of hotel to be seen/ check out others this is not it. The rooms were clean, cool, and updated (we stayed in 2 different rooms in order to help accommodate another guest). Beds and linens were very comfortable. The staff were courteous, helpful, and sincere. The small pools were cooling/ relaxing. The location is proximate to everything. Santa Marta is a city where most non Colombian tourists will visit in order to take a day-trip either to the mountains by car and/ or to the beaches by boat vs wanting to hang-out in the city itself. We did both of these day-trips. Specifically, we had a terrific experience with going to the small mountain town called Minca for a coffee, chocolate, eco tour, and we took a snorkeling and beach trip the following day ( the front desk at Don Pepe knows who are the better tour operators). Guasimo is a top end restaurant that is 3 blocks away that requires some planning to get a reservation (the front desk at Don Pepe can arrange this). A special shout-out to Edgar who served us breakfast every day and to both the front desk managers. - Gracias.
JJohn SanchezThe hotel is ok but nothing special, a bit over price for the infrastructure, the breakfast is basic with bad coffee, also the gym is not good.

GGuest UserClentelle middle class, upmarket, solo travelers reading books in whicker chairs. Fab pool and luscious plants Owners love animals, breakfast great. Rooms air cor and fan, fridge, Clean peaceful plenty of tables.Quiet at night Shutters on windows for privacy. Mr Vichy is the cat, you see him, we fed him tuna. The owners are quick to rectify any problem, our toilet did not flush, new room given . Outside turn right and your 6 mins from the beach. So clean and great value in Santa Marta. If you don't want street vendors outside then the ONLY option is the enclosed private citadel of top hotel names, which offers no better security than we had. The bus to Cartagena stops outside. This is genuinely an upmarket oasis. It's difficult to leave the pool and luscious vegetation . You can get snacks, e cigs beer from street vendors passing by in seconds. The hotel sells alcohol also. On some nights it offers a dining night, the dining room reminds me when James Bond was in Cuba if you've read Flemming. What a pleasure, different, cant understand why it not mobbed in tourist season
MMauro_traveloverIt was an incredible experience and we enjoyed our time at this hotel, it's location is perfect to take different activities such as going to the aquarium and playa blanca, tayrona park and other places. There is a little options for fun and parties and the nights has not quite fun. The hotel is very clean and comfortable, the elevator looks like old and unsafety but you can used the stairs.
Vloeroppervlakte is echter krap.
The room was clean, had a writing desk and hanging space for clothes. TV and wifi. Shower water was cold but when requested was fixed with hot water. Breakfast was included. I am not a spanish speaker but use google translate and my broken spanish sentences. The girl didn't speak any English and that's OK but she treated me like I was a foreigner walk in that she wanted nothing to do with. I asked for the menu. She said there wasn't one. She told me thru translate eggs 3 ways that's it. I asked for fruits juice and toast available only because I saw others had this. That night I went to reception to ask if menu they said yes. As I was staying a few days and doing day tours I wanted to enjoy a breakfast before leaving. Next morning with her sour attitude she again approached and spoke in spanish. This time annoyed I said you know I don't speak spanish and I'm not doing this again. A guy Came and told me options change each day. I explained I didn't get the options I saw of others and only got what she offered and the fruit I saw. I ended up with same breakfast. For this reason I cannot recommend this hotel. They need a menu. Then you know what's available. I can read spanish better than I speak. Relying on a sour unfriendly and unhelpful girl is not an option I choose. For this I don't recommend as foreign traveller.
