Absolutely. The main thing I’d do is remove repetition and combine the original conclusion with the update. This keeps the important examples while making the review much more impactful. While the property itself is breathtaking, the service initially did not live up to the standards we associate with the Waldorf Astoria brand. We were celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary with our two young children, and I had exchanged several emails with the hotel beforehand sharing those details. As a Hilton Honors Diamond member, I was hoping for a more personalized experience, but our arrival felt surprisingly impersonal. We appreciated the complimentary room upgrade and the beautiful anniversary decorations and pastries. However, our first “ocean-view” room was largely obstructed by trees and the elevator structure. The team kindly moved us, but the process wasn’t seamless; our anniversary amenities were left behind, requiring several calls and messages to have them transferred. This became a recurring theme: staff were generally polite and willing to help, but execution was inconsistent and often required follow-up. For comparison, we had just stayed at W Reserva Conchal. The contrast in hospitality was noticeable. There, we were welcomed by name, our anniversary was acknowledged, and our children received thoughtful treats. Here, despite knowing we were traveling with two children, the welcome amenities were only for the adults. Small touches like these make families feel genuinely seen. There were also clear highlights. The pool staff was exceptional—warm, attentive, and genuinely welcoming. The Kids Club is beautiful, and the team caring for the children was wonderful. This was actually a stronger experience than at the W, where there was a play space but no supervised childcare. Dining was more inconsistent. At Tico Tica, service was slow, the promised bread never arrived until we asked, and an anniversary dessert that was promised never appeared, even after we were told it would be sent to our room. At the pool, our children’s quesadilla arrived without the guacamole listed on the menu, and we only learned afterward that the kitchen had run out. Breakfast was delicious, but again, service was quite slow, especially for the children’s meals. Another surprising detail was the lack of Waldorf Astoria branding in the room. The slippers, robes, and amenity kits were all plain, with little or no visible Waldorf identity. Having stayed at other Waldorf Astoria properties, we found this surprising, as these signature touches contribute to the sense of luxury and brand identity. Update at the end of our stay: I want to recognize the hotel for listening and making a genuine effort to improve our experience. Leoreana, the Guest Services Director, personally sat down with us, listened carefully to our concerns, and took action. The difference afterward was noticeable. Our final dinner was wonderful—the food was delicious, the service was warm and at
