We stayed at this hotel recently as a family, 2 rooms for the Formula 1 at Monza. All was good at the hotel, the rooms were lovely, the pool area great, the staff appeared friendly and the food nice. We were very happy with our stay until check out day. We checked out and packed all our luggage into our car. It was only then that I realised I had left a very expensive flag I had purchased in Monza in my room. I returned to the reception and a member of staff accompanied me up to the room. When we reached the room the cleaner was in the room. She had the broken flag pole from my flag in her cleaning trolley. She denied that she had seen the flag. This was incredulous to me as she had the flag pole in her trolley. She was unable to communicate why she had the pole. Unfortunately I didn't make a scene and left the hotel hoping that I would contact the manager and that the item would be returned. I emailed the hotel several times and no reply. Yesterday I got fed up and emailed them again that I would leave a review of the truth if not answered. Today I got this reply: ”I just spoke with our housekeeping, and they told me that one of your family member gave only the pole without the flag, and all the staff remember that you left our hotel with the red flag,” How disgraceful that this hotel felt the need to call me a liar instead of addressing the issue of theft at their hotel. Is this how customers should be treated? They acknowledge that the pole was left behind, they ALL seen me leaving with the red flag. Why would I leave the pole behind me?. What absurd behaviour. I generally don't review hotels but felt this type of behaviour needs to be pointed out. As a photo journalist I have travelled the world and stayed at many hotels, good and bad but never have I felt the need to leave a negative comment or indeed be so incensed as to be called a liar. Yes it is only a flag but it is the principle of the act of theft. That is definitely throwing up red flags for me!!!!. No respect for your customers. I cannot wait to see what preposterous comment the manager leaves under this truthful comment to explain staff behaviour.
