Family-friendly Hotels in Savannakhet

From the 4 star rating and pictures thought this looked nice, but soon realised the pictures were not a reflection on the actual location. Will start with the positives: Ok now onto the negatives; Room was in need of repair - tv not working. Shower decided how hot / cold it wants to be - from cold to scolding and back to cold. Road to hotel is a muddy track which is not lit and walking back from the night market led to a nice mud bath for my shoes : legs. The pool was closed and very dirty. The grounds overgrown and in need of serious attention. Apparently 4 star - maybe many years ago, luckily only had a night stay and so glad. Recommend avoiding.

The hotel is on the edge of the Mekong River, across the river from Laos and Thailand. There is a place to eat by the river. The room is very clean and cleaned in time. Some rooms have a weak WiFi signal and the dining is delicious. There is a park next to the hotel, suitable for walking and exercise, there are many places to eat nearby, the night market is also very close, many people who come here to go to the Thai embassy in Laos for long-term visas, can spend money to do it, much more convenient than domestic.

We have two cups of very cold coffee, we felt we were a burden without any explanation given the barrier of the language. We legitimately asked for hot coffee and only a cup was brought. There was a climate of joke and discomfort that was regained on the ground by the young staff and we did not appreciate it. The hotel is not bad, it took me a while to find a hotel. The breakfast is good, and there is also a drop-off service. The breakfast is Thai barbecue, drinks, rice, etc. It is a bit wasteful to eat it by one person. If it is suitable for two people, it is already the best hotel in this place!
