📍 10 Prospect Hill, Whitby, Scarborough District

"Very clean room and bathroom. Just over 10 minutes to walk into Whitby. Good communication to access room. Good parking in with price. We were on top floor and it didn’t say on the booking , and I would have liked to have been prepared for all the stairs. However very very poor lighting on 2nd and 3rd floor when going out in evening and returning in evening. Hubby had to put torch on his phone , lighting needs to be better . However lovely place . Thank you"

Grest communication throughout our stay. The room was a perfect size and spotlessly clean as was the ensuite bathroom. Very well equipped. Breakfast was excellent. We cannot wait to return. "

The Royal George Staithes

The Royal George Staithes ★★★

📍 High Street Staithes Saltburn, Staithes

"We popped in a couple of times for both food & drinks during our 5 day stay in Staithes.. We've been coming here for a few years now so know that we're going to be served good food in a good pub. If you like to watch sport they do cater for this , especially in the old fashioned 'tap room' on the right hand side as you walk in. If the sun is shining its a great 'sun trap' to sit out on the front for a bit of 'people watching', if you're lucky enough to get a seat."

Ellerby Country Inn ★★★★
"After finding this lovely Yorkshire pub in the back pages of the Good Hotel Guide and spending a week there it did certainly not disappoint. We stayed in room 11 which was nicely furnished and had a lovely bathroom with bath and shower facilities. All very clean and well maintained with an impressive change of bedding after only a three days, this is unusual for pub accommodation. It also had a shared balcony which would have been nice on a sunny day enjoying a gin and tonic. We had a delightful breakfast freshly cooked (not buffet stile I’m pleased to say) with good choices for starters and main courses. All pleasantly served by personable Yorkshire lasses. This was altogether a very pleasant stay which we will be returning to when opportunity arrives, and an establishment we can recommend without any reservations. Thank you for a lovely stay."

The Captain Cook Inn ★★★
"Having stayed at the hotel on Saturday 4th, we came in from a lovely evening to lots of barking & yelping from a clearly very distressed dog that had been left alone in the next room. This went on for an hour before I went downstairs at 12 midnight to be told by Kaz behind the bar that she knew who’s dog it was & she would let them know. The owners did come upstairs & after a few raised voice & choice words the barking stopped. However the music in the bar continued until past 1am. This resulted in a very poor nights sleep. The next morning I went downstairs to a very aggressive Kaz who shouted at me & point blankly refused any apology or refund, the chef also came out & said the policy was to allow dogs to be left unattended in the room. Could not believe that this is actually acceptable. We can’t tell you what breakfast was like, even though we had paid for it as we walked out. Please avoid this hotel & maybe Kaz needs some training in customer service"

The Endeavour Restaurant with Rooms ★★★★
"A lovely B&B for relaxation and great breakfasts cooked by Cameron! Our room was full of character and you can see the harbour whilst using the lovely window seat and when sitting up in bed. It was tremendous to sit warm and cosy and watch the very big waves. The snug is as good as it sounds, a lovely place to relax with comfy armchairs, sofa and an honesty bar. Breakfasts are delicious in the very smart dining room. We spotted several people go by with their surfboards on their way to make the most of the sea conditions during our stay. Staithes is such an amazing place packed with houses on the steep slopes, and we met so many friendly people everywhere we went. It’s also a great place to head off for cliff walks either north or south. We particularly enjoyed the walk to Runswick Bay."

"Had a lovely stay this weekend. Really comfy bed. We had an evening meal and breakfast both days. The food was lovely and great portions! I particularly enjoyed my eggs florentine. The staff were really helpful. We were there for a gig at the open air theatre and it was easy getting a taxi there and back. Would definitely recommend and hope to go back next year."

Victoria Hotel ★★★★
"Superb location - over-looking the sea from the cliff edge. However, watch out for which room you get. We got a room tucked away in the back with a view over the kitchen exhaust. However, even this room itself was pleasant, clean and comfortable. There must be some beautiful rooms though, given its general spaciousness and excellent location. The restaurant and pub style bar are also comfortable. The food and service are very good. When we went it was really busy, so booking was necessary. overall a 9/10 for the Vic."
