The Black Bull Inn ★★★★
"We recently dined at the Black Bull in Sedbergh for our honeymoon, which we had noted on the booking in advance. Unfortunately, this was never acknowledged during the evening and, for such a special occasion, even a simple congratulations would have been appreciated. The food itself was excellent and we really enjoyed the quality of every course. We also ordered a bottle of wine costing over £100 and, given the impressive wine list, we were expecting the wine service to reflect that standard. We were therefore surprised that during the meal we were never approached to have either our wine or water topped up. While the meal itself was very good, the service felt less attentive than we had hoped for and this made the service charge feel difficult to justify. Overall, the food was excellent, but the overall experience did not quite match the standard we were expecting for such an important occasion."
The Red Lion ★★★
"We stayed here whilst on a walking holiday. The Red Lion has two bedrooms, both on the first floor. One is at the front of the Inn which has a large bedroom with ensuite bathroom and an adjoining very large lounge which was a lovely surprise. The rooms were clean and very comfortable, Breakfast was good and served in the pub. Staff asked for your breakfast choices the previous evening. We stayed on a Sunday evening and the pub had closed at 2100 hrs. We had been told that if we returned after that time to enter through the rear. Might be worth checking out where the door is as when we returned it was pouring with rain and dark so not immediately obvious."
The George and Dragon ★★★
"Has a captive market being perhaps one of the few places offering cooked meals in the evening in Dent. The dishes served are variable, my wife’s meal was tasty, mine was below average. The table was so sticky the plates stuck to it. A good clean would be useful. I hate to think what the kitchen is like. In short, it seemed that minimal effort was put in by management. On a positive note the beer was good and not overpriced."

Pine Lake Resort ★★★★
"Receptionist is not welcoming the guest, calling for check out and threatening to charge you if you check out 30 minutes late. Housekeeping is entering the lodge without permission before check out, Not respecting the privacy. Cleanliness is not good particularly the sofas."
Days Inn by Wyndham Kendal Killington Lake ★★★
"Location was good, had backside lake. But rooms were not very clean. But was ok to stay for one night but we booked it for 3 nights but we struggled to have food and basic things."
The Lakeland Kendal Hotel, Sure Hotel Collection by BW ★★★
"Had a lovely 2 night break away from 26th December and the hotel staff were friendly and welcoming, gave local knowledge and recommendations on where to go walking… the breakfast was good value for money and caters for both vegetarians and vegans. There may not be onsite car parking but the recommended car parking made available at the local cricket club for only £2 per day is only 4 minutes walk away and convenient. Thank you also for all the communication before our stay, greatly appreciated 😊"
The Green Dragon at Hardraw ★★★★
"Lovely old fashioned pub nice food"
Travelodge Burton M6 Northbound ★★★
"Handy to have services next door for late/ early snacks etc. entrance/exit is N bound only, but I believe there is some sort of access to the hotel via a service road. Pottery mugs, not glass, no noisy bar issues, Functional, clean & well aired. Some good pubs nearby, Levens Hall Cafe for brunch, & a good chippy & pubs at Arnside if don't mind a drive. "
Kirkby Stephen Hostel ★★★
"Can’t praise more for this unique hostel. Originally I booked in May, but before my trip I had been in hospital with an injury, which meant I couldn’t go. But Denise kept my booking until later when I was fit enough to travel for some hiking around the area. Not many places would do that. I had an enjoyable stay and it’s got everything to cater for your needs. Superb hostel all round. 11 out of 10!"
