"I don't usually leave reviews after staying at hotels. I only do it when the experience is either exceptionally good or genuinely disappointing. Unfortunately, this time it was the latter. We booked our stay back in January and chose Hotel Katarina mainly because it advertised a spa and an indoor pool. Since we were traveling with our one-year-old son, we planned to use the indoor pool during the hottest part of the day. Unfortunately, the spa and indoor pool were closed, and we were never informed in advance. When I politely mentioned this at check-in, the receptionist responded quite rudely, offering to cancel our reservation and refund us on the spot. After traveling over 1,000 km, that was hardly a realistic solution. The room was clean and comfortable, and our housekeeper was wonderful—always friendly, smiling, and very thorough. She was by far the highlight of our stay. However, I was surprised that a four-star hotel didn't even provide a complimentary bottle of water in the room. The minibar was completely empty, with no menu or option to order drinks, so we had to buy water at a nearby store. The outdoor pools (which actually belong to the neighboring Hotel Millennium) were fine, but the children's pool had exposed sharp metal parts around the water outlets, which is a serious safety concern for small children. The biggest disappointment was the food. The same stew was served three days in a row, only paired with different pasta. The vegetables were undercooked, and even the carrots were too hard to mash for our toddler. For a four-star seaside hotel, the seafood selection was very limited, and the desserts were bland. If you didn't arrive right when dinner started, many desserts were gone and were not replenished. Overall, we were disappointed. We expected much more from a four-star hotel. Rating: 2.8/5"

"Unfortunately, our experience at Hotel Amabilis in Selce was absolutely unacceptable, especially considering that this is a five-star hotel and one of the more expensive hotels on the Croatian Adriatic. Throughout our stay, the staff repeatedly came across as visibly unfriendly and uninterested. However, what happened after our departure completely overshadowed everything else. I accidentally left a brand-new Polo Ralph Lauren hoodie, worth approximately €350, on one of the sun loungers. About three hours after leaving, we called reception and asked them to check whether the hoodie was still there. We were told that a member of staff had gone to check, but that the hoodie was nowhere to be found. Since we were certain where it had been left, we asked a friend from Selce to go to the hotel in person and check the situation. He arrived about ten minutes later. He searched the area, spoke to the staff, showed them a photo of the hoodie and asked whether anyone had found it. Everyone claimed they knew nothing about it. Shortly afterwards, one of the employees allowed him to check a staff room. The hoodie was found behind a wardrobe, among the staff’s belongings. That alone was extremely concerning, but unbelievably, the story did not end there. Our friend took the recovered hoodie to reception and clearly explained that a relative of ours would come to collect it the following day. When our relative arrived at the hotel the next day, the hoodie was once again missing from reception. So, an item that was first found hidden among staff belongings disappeared yet again after it had been recovered and specifically left at reception for collection. From a hotel of this category, we would expect such a serious situation to be investigated immediately, responsibility to be taken, and an appropriate solution or compensation to be offered to the guest. Instead, we received no adequate resolution and no reimbursement for the value of the missing item. For a five-star hotel charging the prices that Amabilis does, we consider this treatment of guests and their belongings completely unacceptable. This is not simply about a €350 hoodie; it is about trust and the sense of security that should be an absolute minimum at a hotel of this standard. After an experience like this, unfortunately, we cannot recommend this hotel."

" Location The only positive note is the hotel's location: the view is magnificent and the proximity to the sea makes everything very suggestive. Unfortunately, the beauty of the landscape is not enough to compensate for the serious shortcomings of the structure. Cleaning The cleaning of the rooms has been quite insufficient, which is unacceptable for such a hotel standard. ️ Restaurant and Service The experience at the restaurant was the lowest point of the stay: Food quality: Ingredients of low quality and cooked dishes without care. Medium flavors that do not make justice to local tradition. Service: Disorganized and unsatisfactory staff. Verdetto Despite the invidiable location, I do not recommend this hotel because of the poor hygiene and a full restaurant service to be reviewed."
