J.Ai Hotel (Shanghai West Railway Station) Reviews

The room was clean and tidy. It was a bit of a walk to get there, but totally worth it. The front desk even gave us complimentary breakfast. The hotel itself is quite spacious, and the surrounding area has excellent amenities. There's a mall nearby with plenty of dining options, including KFC and Pizza Hut.

The hotel was very bad. An unpleasant experience has started from the very beginning in a hall, since it was almost 35 degrees outside and over 60% of humidity, AC didn’t work on the first floor at all. So while you’re waiting for a check in/out or an elevator, there’s literally no air at all to breathe. Then the smell starts in the corridors and follows until you get to your room. Even though the room was a non smoking one, a strong smell was in and outside of the room. The location is also inconvenient, very noisy and disturbing. Speaking of the cleanliness, it was awful. The furniture is old, floors are extremely dirty. I took a wet wipe and it got black immediately I wiped it. There are a lot more betteroptions for the same price.

The room was very spacious, fully equipped with a wardrobe, table, and chairs, and it was also very quiet. Excellent value for money. The front desk and housekeeping staff were all very friendly. I didn't know how to use the washing machine, and even at almost 11 PM, a staff member kindly took me to the laundry room to show me how. I'm really grateful for their help!

The Jane Hotel is incredibly convenient! Its location is excellent, whether you're heading to Hongqiao or Shanghai West Railway Station. The room was spacious, with a large balcony and a big bathroom. The front desk staff were patient and enthusiastic, and the cleaning aunties provided thoughtful service!

The place is clean and the location was perfect for my destination as well as not too far from the train station

Having seen mountains, rivers, and oceans, and encountered unfamiliar customs, my restless heart slowly calms. Travel isn't about reaching distant destinations; it's about temporarily escaping the mundane, and re-examining oneself. Upon returning, I carry the relaxation and open-mindedness gained from the journey, embracing the ordinary and living life well.

The hotel has duplex rooms, which means going up and down stairs, making it inconvenient. The hallways are like dormitory-style corridors, so consider that before booking. I wish the business prosperity! For anything else, ask the hotel staff!

Woke up at 2 AM to an electronic alarm. Couldn't reach the front desk using the in-room phone, so I called from my cell. They said it was the corridor's emergency lights charging, which apparently makes a continuous alarm sound and can't be turned off? The soundproofing is terrible; I could hear conversations from the next room. The hotel couldn't offer any effective solutions to these issues. The next day, during negotiations, they only suggested changing rooms and offered no compensation for the inconvenience. When I returned the following day, only one of the two beds was made, and the trash cans hadn't been emptied. Absolutely awful experience. Only recommended if you enjoy sleeping in a marketplace or on a fire truck.

My stay here was unexpectedly good: 1. Excellent soundproofing. 2. Every part of the room was neat and clean. 3. The bedding and pillows were very clean. 4. The TV worked great. 5. The room had a faint, pleasant scent, with absolutely no strange odors. I've stayed in similarly priced hotels in Shanghai before, and they often had a bad smell. I regret not checking what kind of air freshener they used; I hope the hotel sees this review and can tell me! 6. All amenities were fully provided and nothing was missing.

To turn on the AC you have to point the controller at the tv, which is very counterintuitive. Also WiFi requires sms verification, which doesn’t work with international phone numbers. Apart from that, the room was very nice and the service was on par

Breakfast was nothing special, but the service was quite prompt. The facilities, specifically the air conditioning, weren't very warm. However, the hygiene was good, and it was clean. The only downside was that parking wasn't free. Overall, it was decent. The price fluctuated a lot due to the New Year period.

The hotel environment is quite good, with spacious rooms and a decent breakfast. The location is also convenient, being about a ten-minute walk from the subway station, with a mall and convenience store nearby. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. It would be even better if there was air conditioning at the front desk when checking in!

The hotel is very close to Tongji University's Huxi Campus. The room was incredibly spacious. Food delivery can come directly to your room. In the evenings, Uighurs selling delicious grilled lamb skewers appear downstairs.
