The facilities could use an update. The air conditioner cover fell off in the middle of the night, and the shower hose burst and had to be replaced. However, the staff were very good, whether it was for repairs or sending amenities. The male manager I spoke with, though, had a bit of an arrogant, 'Shanghainese gentleman' vibe.

The Shanghai Wang Bao He Hotel is located in a prime area, making it incredibly convenient for getting around. The hotel's decor is elegant and grand, blending old Shanghai charm with modern sophistication; the lobby is clean and refined. The guest rooms are spacious and well-equipped, with comfortable bedding, ensuring a pleasant stay. Their renowned dining options offer authentic flavors, and the service is attentive and warm. It's an excellent choice for both business travelers and leisure guests.

The room was pretty good, I slept so well in this nice hotel. Facilities: The only downside is that there's no washing machine; I asked the front desk and it seems they only offer laundry service. Also, the toilet isn't a smart one… Hygiene: I carefully checked the sheets, duvet cover, and pillows, and they were all very clean. Environment: Given its location in Huangpu District, it's very close to Nanjing East Road Pedestrian Street and the Bund. Service: The cleaning staff was excellent and followed all hotel procedures.

The hotel's location is great, right on Nanjing Road, which was perfect for taking the kids out to play. I won't even mention the 60 yuan parking fee we had to pay ourselves, but the cleanliness truly doesn't meet the standards of a state-owned four-star hotel. There were urine stains on the toilet that weren't even wiped clean – please see the pictures. The second one is after I tried to clean it myself! For 1299, only the location is justifiable.

The hotel is very close to the Bund, so we enjoyed a pleasant evening stroll to see the famous sights. The room size was just right, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful stay. The restaurant is renowned for its seafood, and we were lucky enough to catch the crayfish season, which was a delicious feast!

The room was decent, and having a desk was very convenient for my business trip. Its central location made it easy to get around, and the area was bustling at night. The room amenities were complete, and the service was friendly. Everything was just fine.

The hotel is located at a superb spot whereby it’s just minutes walk away from the famous Nanjing Road and if you are adventurous enough walkable all the way to The Bund! There’s also lots of eateries around and you can never go hungry here. The hotel staff are friendly and helpful especially towards non-chinese speaking tourists like me 😂. The interior though a little dated, but not a deal breaker as we are out majority of the time anyway.

The bathroom amenities were quite stingy. The 27ml shower gel was just enough for one person, let alone a couple or someone with a child. And 27ml of shampoo isn't even enough for long hair, though it might be okay for short hair. It really doesn't match the price of the room. The staff in the lobby were always rushing around and almost bumped into people; generally, they didn't even greet guests. Check-out wasn't quick, which was a real waste of time. And there's no need to constantly ask if we've eaten the peanuts or had the drinks. If we eat or drink something, we'll naturally pay for it. With such an expensive room rate, we wouldn't bother with such small economies.

The hotel boasts an excellent location and a very classic, somewhat dated interior, typical of an old state-run establishment. However, the service for guests who booked through online platforms is quite poor and inflexible. Compared to other hotels of its kind, the service falls far short.

The facilities are a bit old, which is a common weakness for state-owned hotels in Shanghai. The hotel and Ctrip's approach also feel outdated; they still require a deposit upon arrival, seemingly worried guests might consume items from the mini-bar. Nowadays, many hotels in Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and even northern regions offer complimentary mini-bars, yet Shanghai still seems quite stingy. As a Shanghainese myself, I find this embarrassing. If it weren't for its prime location on Nanjing Road, nobody would stay in a hotel with this kind of management style. The Broadway Mansions Hotel across the street is exactly the same!

Our stay was good overall. The hotel has a good position, just 3' walk from Nanjing road. The staff was kind and helpful, and they speak English too, which is an advantage in china.

The room was pretty quiet and very close to the pedestrian street, with lots of unique restaurants just behind it.

Good location and room space, but poor breakfast quality and choice and terrible front desk service attitude. Surely will not go back.
