Grand Kempinski Hotel Shanghai

I've stayed at Kempinski many times, and its location is unbeatable. Opening the curtains to the Huangpu River view is simply breathtaking. Before my arrival, the staff contacted me and offered two days of complimentary breakfast, and even upgraded my room. The room was huge, almost too big for two people, but I truly appreciated the generous gesture. The breakfast quality was consistently excellent; we always went late, almost at 10:30 AM, but items were replenished quickly. Housekeeping was also very thorough, and the front desk staff were lovely. Due to time constraints, I didn't get to dine at the hotel's restaurants, but there were plenty of options. It's just a few minutes' walk to the riverside, which is perfect. Shanghai is too hot right now; it would be even better to visit when it's cooler.

Overall, it was very good, and the service was enthusiastic. The breakfast was also excellent. However, there was one thing that made me extremely dissatisfied, which is why I deducted 0.5 points: the swimming pool. First, when I took my daughter to swim, the staff said the men's changing room lockers were full and told me to just leave my bag next to a chair. When I got to the pool, I found that there were only about 5 to 6 men, while there were more women. There were over 30 men's lockers, yet they claimed they were full. I don't understand this operation. Second, I couldn't find slippers or bath towels in the changing room. They might have all been in the lockers. I had to ask the staff for them. All the used bath towels were piled on chairs, and cleaning was slow, so there was no space to sit and change. Third, the door to the men's changing room was wide open, and the curtain wasn't drawn, which could easily expose privacy. I'm not sure if it was opened by the cleaning staff. In summary, I hope the hotel can take note of these issues and rectify them as soon as possible. Thank you.

The lady who checked us in was very kind and upgraded our room, even including free breakfast for our child – super impressive! The river view room offered expansive views and excellent soundproofing, allowing us to sleep soundly. Although the hotel has been open for a while, the facilities are very well maintained. The pool on the 30th floor offers views of the Oriental Pearl Tower; while not huge, it's perfectly fine for kids. All in all, we'll definitely choose Kempinski again next time we visit Shanghai.

The location is fantastic! I specifically booked a river view room, only to find out all river view rooms are the same price. It was only when I had a meal on the 28th floor that I realized the city view rooms directly face the Lujiazui 'Three-piece Set' (Shanghai Tower, Shanghai World Financial Center, Jin Mao Tower), which offers an even better view. Just a few steps downstairs are the Oriental Pearl Tower, Zhengda Plaza, and the Line 2 subway station. Compared to the 'touristy crowds' watching the Bund from the other side, it's much more relaxed on the Pudong side.

Extremely satisfied with my stay! The hotel is located in the heart of Lujiazui, offering convenient transportation. The ambiance is grand and elegant, and the rooms are well-equipped with stunning first-line river views. The room itself was clean and comfortable. The service was attentive and polite, and the breakfast was abundant and delicious. The prime location allows for a pleasant walk to the Oriental Pearl TV Tower, making it an excellent choice for a stay in Shanghai.

The hotel was very upscale, and they even upgraded me to a river view room, which offered a magnificent, commanding view. Having my takeaway delivered to the hotel and dining while overlooking the river was a fantastic experience!

The breakfast was abundant, and the executive lounge offered superb views. The service was attentive and thoughtful, with quick responses from the front desk to room service requests. The rooftop pool and fitness center were also a great bonus. It perfectly blends German sophistication with the charm of Shanghai, making it ideal for both business and leisure.
