I stayed here during my first trip to China, and it was the best place I’d stayed so far! To start, the rooms were very comfortable, with the bed having controlled heating/cooling, the bathroom having a state-of-the-art electric toilet, on top of the already impeccable essentials of a bureau, table, bureau etc. The best aspect, however, were our hosts. The stay is a bit further from the center, so we checked in quite late but they completely accomodated for this. Since it is a homestay, they live in the same building (although completely on the other side, so we did have plenty of privacy). This ultimately meant that we felt like a part of the family! We talked a lot, they gave us advice on what to do, explained about ******* culture, helped us with laundry, were able to come get us from the hotsprings (which is quite closeby and open late), gave us a midnight snack, made and had delicious breakfast for/with us in their traditional handcrafted living room, and just in general were a comforting presence and the most generous hosts. If I ever find myself in Shangri La again, I would definitely stay here!
