This is a very new hotel, exceptionally clean and comfortable. It's likely the highest B&B on the main hiking trail, so the room views are excellent, and there's a large photo-op terrace as well.

I recently visited Shangri-La and stumbled upon an absolute gem of a guesthouse in Tiger Leaping Gorge – the Jade Dragon Mountain View Inn! The moment I opened the window, the canyon views absolutely blew me away. It felt like living inside a breathtaking landscape painting! ### Incredible Location * It's right at the golden starting point for the high-road hike in Tiger Leaping Gorge. A mere 3-minute stroll takes you to the legendary Halfway Guesthouse. * Famous viewpoints like the "Dizzying Balcony" are right on your doorstep, making it incredibly convenient to kick off your hiking adventure. * You can't miss the purple house nestled in the mountains – even if you're directionally challenged, you'll find it easily! ### Fantastic Stay Experience * The rooms are spacious and well-arranged. My king-size room offered such expansive views that they practically reflected off the walls; I could take in the entire beauty of Tiger Leaping Gorge right from my bed. * One minor quibble: there's no viewing chair. If you want to admire the scenery by the window, you have to stand, which can get tiring! However, the three-panel automatic folding French windows are amazing. Open them on a clear day, and your photos will have incredible depth. * **Second-floor terrace:** Perfect for capturing portraits with the canyon as a stunning backdrop. Your photos will look like they belong in a magazine. * **Sixth-floor rooftop:** The views are so vast, they encompass two entire sides of the canyon – truly magnificent! ### Exciting Activities Nearby * Go for an easy 5km hike with beautiful scenery all the way to the waterfall – a feast for the eyes. * Wake up early and watch the sunrise over Haba Snow Mountain from the rooftop – absolutely stunning. * In the evening, enjoy the sunset over Jade Dragon Snow Mountain from the Halfway Guesthouse terrace – incredibly romantic. ### Dining Tips * The cured pork and local chicken stew at the guesthouse restaurant is, in a word, superb! Other dishes are also generously portioned and filling. Remember to tell the owner what you'd like to eat in advance, as everything is freshly prepared. ### Important Notes * For the ladies who love their makeup, there's no vanity mirror in the room, so bring a small one with you. * The temperature difference in high-altitude areas can be significant, so a jacket is essential. * Contact the owner in advance to arrange transportation, otherwise, you'll understand why. ### Booking Tips * Even in the off-season, please book 1-3 days in advance to secure your preferred room.
