Futian Shangri-La, Shenzhen

The only thing that would make the massage chair water in the pool perfect is if it were 2-3 degrees warmer. It's a bit too cool for just relaxing, though the changing rooms do have hot tubs. However, staying in the changing room for too long gets hot, and there's no view or fresh air. Marriott's water temperature is better in comparison. It's great that this hotel has a steam room and sauna, which is rare in Shenzhen. Overall, the hotel environment and service are excellent.

The room was spacious and bright. We stayed in the Club Deluxe room this time, and the food and beverage options were extensive and delicious. The view and ambiance were also great. We'll definitely come back again.

The room has been renovated, and the toilet upgraded to a smart one, which is quite nice. I asked the front desk for a welcome fruit platter, and they delivered it. However, there's no coffee machine, and the tea isn't very good. The price is also a few hundred more expensive than before, which makes it feel a bit overpriced.

On a business trip, I arrived late at night and was pleasantly surprised to be upgraded to a 144-square-meter suite. The first impression upon entering was luxury, and the smart toilet, which I'd been hoping for, instantly lifted my spirits after a delayed flight. The only minor inconvenience was the lack of an outlet by the bed, but a quick call to reception for an extension cord solved the problem. Both breakfast and service were of the high standard expected from a renowned five-star hotel. A special shout-out to Fiona at the front desk: when I checked out, I unknowingly left a 50 RMB note tucked into my room card. After I left the hotel, Fiona went out of her way to call me and then added me on WeChat to return the money. While it wasn't a large sum, it truly showcased the exceptional level of service.

This was my first time staying at a Shangri-La hotel, and honestly, it wasn't as good as I'd imagined. The complimentary water in the room was Ice Dew, and there were only two bottles. That's incredibly stingy. For a five-star brand hotel, you'd expect at least Nongfu Spring or Wahaha. They're cutting costs to the point of no return. The last time I encountered Ice Dew in a five-star hotel was at the Gran Meliá Xi'an, about seven or eight years ago. I also tried the hotel's spa, and the price definitely didn't match the service. The woman at the front desk was also the masseuse, and frankly, her technique was very unprofessional. I ended the session early because of it. I would absolutely never choose it again. A good spa should add value and reputation to a hotel's brand. This one felt like it was outsourced. I'm guessing they charge too much for rent, and without making a profit, they just end up trying to fleece guests. I definitely won't choose it again.
