As an international traveler from the United States who has visited many countries around the world—and having just completed a three-week journey throughout China, staying in numerous hotels across several major cities—I feel well qualified to provide an objective assessment of this property. During this trip, we experienced several genuine four-diamond hotels, so we understand the level of quality, service, and presentation that such a rating should represent.
Unfortunately, our experience at LansHotel Shenzhen Futian Convention & Exhibition Center was profoundly disappointing and did not reflect the standard portrayed in its Trip.com listing.
The photographs and description create the impression of a modern, upscale four-diamond hotel. In reality, the property falls well short of those expectations. Based on our experience, it is much more comparable to a basic two-star hotel than an internationally recognized four-diamond property.
The hotel occupies part of a commercial office building shared with businesses and offices. It appears that a number of office units have been converted into guest accommodations. While there is certainly potential in this concept, the property requires significant investment in its facilities, maintenance, cleanliness, and guest experience before it could reasonably meet international hospitality standards.
The front desk receptionist was friendly and courteous, but the level of professionalism and presentation did not reflect what one would expect from a hotel marketed in this category.
Our concerns began almost immediately after check-in. We were instructed to proceed to “Side B” of the building to reach our room. Access required walking through a heavy metal door into an area that felt neglected and more like the service corridors of a commercial building than the entrance to a premium hotel. Rather than inspiring confidence, the journey to the room left us feeling uneasy and was completely inconsistent with the experience expected of a four-diamond property.
Unfortunately, the guest room itself reinforced that first impression. It lacked the refinement, maintenance, and attention to detail expected at this level point. The curtains in the living area were visibly worn and dated. The bathroom was separated from the bedroom by stained vertical blinds, several of which were missing entirely, creating a temporary and unfinished appearance rather than that of a thoughtfully designed hotel suite. Most concerning, the wooden flooring had not been properly cleaned before our arrival, as visible dirt and debris were present throughout the room. These are details that should never be overlooked in a hotel representing itself as a premium property.
We had originally reserved the hotel for three nights. However, after arriving at approximately 1:00 a.m. and inspecting the property, it became clear that it did not meet the standard we had booked. Within just a few hours, we made the difficult decision to check out, forfeiting the remaining nights of our reservation. We immediately relocated to a true luxury hotel only a few blocks away, where the difference in quality, professionalism, cleanliness, and overall guest experience was evident from the moment we arrived.
We do not take pleasure in leaving negative reviews, and we rarely do so. However, we believe future travelers deserve an accurate representation of what they are booking. Our intention is not to criticize unfairly, but to provide an honest account based on extensive international travel experience. In our opinion, the listing and photographs significantly overrepresent the quality of this property. Until substantial improvements are made to both the facilities and the guest experience, we cannot recommend LansHotel Shenzhen Futian Convention & Exhibition Center to travelers seeking accommodations that meet internationally recognized four-diamond standards.
