Waking up to the sound of ocean waves, with our room directly facing the sea, and enjoying a private hot spring on the balcony overlooking the spectacular ocean view – it's truly breathtaking. Watching eagles soar overhead, all your worries just melt away, leaving you with an open heart. The breakfast was delicious, with Japanese, Chinese, and Western options, all tasting like a home-cooked meal. Definitely worth revisiting!

Traveling to Izu Shimoda during the October holiday, I booked this hotel last minute, and it turned out to be unexpectedly good. The hotel is run by Chinese owners and is right by the sea. You can enjoy the ocean, sunrise, and sunset directly from your room. There's a shuttle bus every hour to and from the station and the hotel. The rooms are primarily Japanese style. Since it's a Chinese-owned hotel, the dining options are quite diverse, offering Chinese, Japanese, and Western cuisine. We booked a room without dinner, but you can order a la carte, and the prices are quite reasonable with fresh ingredients. Moreover, the hotel staff are very welcoming, and communication in Chinese is seamless. You can even add the Chinese customer service WeChat. It's worth mentioning that customer service agent HU DALIN went out of their way to help us based on our situation. We were in a hurry and wanted to go to Tsumekizaki after checking in at 4 PM that day. DALIN arranged a hotel car to pick us up and drop us off, which greatly solved our transportation problem. The hotel also offers luggage express delivery and even provides snorkeling and spa services, plus an open-air hot spring. Overall, it was an excellent experience, and I'd definitely go back if I have the chance.

The hotel is indeed a bit old, and the cleanliness is only superficially acceptable. Inside a pull-out drawer in the room, there were some unkempt, un-folded bed linens with hair on them. The hot spring and the breakfast/dinner were also just okay, nothing outstanding. Considering it was a trip during the National Day holiday, the price and the scenery made it a relatively good value for money.

The hotel offers unbeatable sea views from the window. The water directly in front of the hotel is crystal clear, perfect for snorkeling. There's a bridge connecting to Ebisu Island, which, though small, boasts diverse rock formations. The hotel breakfast has a wide variety of options, and dinner is also exquisite. Mr. Wu, the owner, is Chinese and provides exceptionally warm service. Thumbs up!

The hotel's location is excellent, right by the sea. You can also take the Shinkansen directly from Tokyo, and upon arrival at the station, the hotel arranges a pickup service. The bed in the room is very comfortable, and the balcony offers a great view of the ocean, plus you can enjoy a private onsen there. It's run by a Chinese couple, so communication is super easy via WeChat for any needs, unlike the more rigid service at some other Japanese hotels. They also offer delicious Chinese food. Most importantly, the snorkeling is fantastic with crystal clear water and an abundance of marine life. You can book snorkeling services directly at the hotel's front desk.

Highly recommend! I was a bit worried about a language barrier when borrowing a car from the hotel near the station, but speaking Chinese was absolutely no problem! There's also a small island nearby perfect for a relaxing walk, and the hotel's hot spring is absolutely amazing! I'll definitely be back next time!

I chose this hotel mainly for the room view and the private mini-onsen. Even though the hotel isn’t within walking distance from the station, they offer a very convenient scheduled shuttle bus. (Just a quick heads-up: if your Odoriko train is delayed, as happened in my case, you might miss it, so be sure to plan your time with a buffer!) The hotel itself is a bit dated, but cozy. During this time of year in Japan, there are quite a few insects around, which naturally affects the hotel as well. Upon check-in, I noticed a couple of bugs in my room and reported it to the front desk. They promptly arranged an extra cleaning, and I didn't see any more bugs after that. The in-room onsen was clean and at a comfortable, not overly hot temperature. On clear nights, you can actually see the stars from it! I truly enjoyed relaxing in the evenings: listening to the sound of the ocean, stargazing, counting ships in the distance, and watching the lighthouse light up. Breakfast is served buffet-style with both Western and Japanese options. I usually went for fish or rice, and found everything quite delicious. The staff at the front desk are very welcoming and always ready to help. Their English is decent, but Google Translate also works great if you're worried about communication. Within walking distance from the hotel, there is a scenic island I highly recommend visiting it at sunrise or sunset! A few useful tips for future guests: - There are no convenience stores or shops near the hotel, so it’s best to buy food and snacks in advance. There is a fridge in the room! - Keep in mind that almost everything in Shimoda opens late and closes early, so plan your daily schedule accordingly. I will definitely return here one day. Shimoda is a truly wonderful place!

This time I chose a hot spring hotel by the sea. The room felt spacious, clean, and comfortable. I picked it because it just opened in 2024. Although the breakfast selection wasn't extensive, it was very appealing. You can see the ocean right from the window, and you can even rent snorkeling gear from the hotel for snorkeling nearby. The only thing I felt wasn't up to par was the cleanliness of the hot spring area itself. I hope they can improve that next time.
