Best Hotels in Shimoda, Japan

The property has amazing ocean views high on an outcropping, but none of the rooms with an ocean view have a balcony, except the very edge of the east wing. Wonderful gardens with a path lading down to a small beach that isn't too noteworthy. The rooms have been updated since the construction and are pretty good overall. The pool was closed in June, which was pretty disappointing, especially as the beach is below par. The onsen facilities met expectation. The beds are firm, which I loved, but not everyone likes a firm mattress. The hotel operates a bus service to pick up guests from the train station twice an hour from 9-5pm. If you are doing dinner out in the town or drinks in the evening, you have to grab a taxi back as the walk is a bit of a hike. The hotel staff are very friendly and kind, the concierge knows the area and has great recommendation for activities...wonderful and friendly people. The hotel restaurant serves a nice mostly Japanese breakfast (as expected) with local delicacies, wide range of teas, coffee and juice as well as a great selection of breads and fresh fruit. The hotel restaurant for dinner is average. Our group ordered a range of items off the menu and no one was terribly impressed. The lone stand out was the French Onion soup, packed with flavor, though a bit light on the cheese. Would stay here again if the price was right, was able to get rooms at a discount on this stay as it was rainy season.

Very good flight and comfortable in front of Izu Express Shimoda Station. I arrived by bus, but there is also a bus terminal. However, the number of flights is not large. It is in a good place to check the time and spend the time adjusting to the bus time. The room was large and cozy. The front desk is not on the １ floor of the building, but there is a guide on the elevator. It is a little difficult to find, but you can see it if you look well. The front desk had a polite staff. The morning bread is also available near the front desk, but I was grateful. However, at night, there is no pleasure town around ... is it because of the corona? It was saved because there was a supermarket. It is recommended for people who use railways and buses.

I stayed for one night in early August with a child of 4 and 7 years old for Shirahama Ohama Beach in front of the hotel. The hotel on the beach is very convenient for bathing with children, but I felt that the line was better here. Check in immediately after the temperature check at the hotel entrance (the room key is received after 15 o'clock), free cloak & shower and dressing room & coin laundry is in the same area, so it becomes light It is connected from the entrance to the pool very close and is the best to move. Moreover, it is good to be close to the public bath. It was convenient to go out directly from the pool to the sea in front of you, and there was a free hot spring shower that dropped sand in the pool when I returned from the sea. There is also a paid rental towel on the pool side with a shower and it is very convenient! It was limited to one word. Coin laundry - shower and dressing room - cloak - large bath - pool - sea All of these were nearby and had a good moving line, so it was good not to take tired children around in a large building There was also a free towel in the public bath. It was easy for children without having to return to the room. It was a room plan (main building confirmation) plan, so it was the third floor of the lowest floor in the room, but it was an outstanding view with a full view of the beach and pool. The only thing that is dissatisfied is the dining hall. There is no window on the mountain side of the first floor and the atmosphere like a large hall for the reception a long time ago. I thought this was perfect if I could see the sea on the top floor or the sea. The content of the meal was buffet. It was a buffet level of so-called ordinary resort hotels, but there were no bad or small types, and there was a live kitchen and it was usually delicious. The room had basic amenities, hot water in the pot and free tea and coffee, empty refrigerator, etc.

I dont usually write about the places I stayed to but I just thought this one deserve a review.. also to help others who is thinking of booking this villa but having second thought just like me since it doesnt provide much photos. Im a kind of person who gather information first before making decision... with this one i cant get that much info or review but book it anyway since it is only for a 1 night stay.. so we stayed there for a night and i must say my family and I loves the room we stayed too. aside from the clean room, the man who assist us was really nice up until we check out and waited until we go.. wave goodbye at us and my kids wave back to him and they were smiling... felt like u just went to a family vacation house and a family is waving bye at u saying see u soon... but anyway this is my review... dont get discourage by the apperance of the outside & the lobby it may not look fancy but for us it looks fine I provided some photos... anyway when we get to the room I was amazed because its very clean and spacious it felt like it is more than what I paid for. I didnt expect too much because I know I chose the cheapest place that I can book since we just need a place to rest after beach and before a long drive the next day but it exceeded my expectation... their very generous with their amenities they have instant coffee and electric kettle, theres also a fridge where you can put your food, with us what we did is we already brought some food so we dont need to buy outside after beach because there is no restaurant close to the villa but if u didn’t brought food there is a close convenient store at shirahama beach where you can buy food and bring it at the villa they have table and couch too inside the room... oh I love the shampoo and conditioner the brand is shisheido (so generous) the bottles were big that even you stay for a week it will be enough they provide shaver, toothbrush and toothpaste too and the towels are white/clean... I love everything about this place the only negative thing I can say is that the top part of the shower curtain has little mold but we didn’t mind since the shower curtain is clean just only the top part maybe because its not new but like i said we didnt mind, because bathroom is so clean... Were planning to go back shimoda again next year since 1 day is not enough to explore it and we will definitely book this place again... thanks again to the man who assisted us. He is so nice...

It is a tourist destination hotel that feels very nostalgic. It makes you feel the fragrance of the 20th century, the fragrance of Showa. It is a hotel that also has actual fragrance. I think this is good as an entertainment. It is a family hotel. The room is old, but I feel well maintained under the environment exposed to sea breeze. But it is a little different from the resort hotel now. The location is very close to Shimoda station and the distance that can be reached even if you walk. The station and the sightseeing boat stop on the road are in front of you, and the view is very good in front of you and the sea. The meal is rich and fun. It's not delicious but fun. With everyone! It's full of atmosphere. It's a bit old tourist destination hotel ”Viking”. The customer service is good. However, before check-in, it is quiet, and the place where the on-off is clear is a long-established tourist destination hotel. Therefore, it is the best if you can enjoy such a aspect. If you travel to Minami Izu with a good atmosphere with her, you might want to think a little.

At the invitation of children, I used it on ３ Month ２１～２２ day. I used it several times at a day trip hot spring. It is a wonderful spring quality. I don't think there is a hot spring in PH ９．５ on the Izu Peninsula. The skin is smooth and women are pleased. I'm in Nishiizu, so I've never stayed there before. I can't say much about it because my child's relatives run the hotel (I stayed in secret on the hotel side), but the employees were very kind. The shuttle bus from Shimoda Station should check the time. I couldn't confirm with the travel agency. There was a little mistake because the child came by train from Tokyo. But the child was indifferent. I took a taxi while enjoying the countryside on the way. It's affordable. The view from the room is always in the scenic Nishiizu, so I'm used to such a view. I have a picture, but the size of JPG did not match.

The hotel is 7 minutes walk from Shirahama Beach. On a hillside, the scenery is beautiful, the owner is warm and hospitable, free shuttle to the train station, there is a lovely garden, outdoor small pool and outdoor barbecue, the sea is everywhere, the atmosphere is good, is a Nice bed and breakfast.

I decided to go for a drive to Minamiizu, which I used to frequent, for the first time in a long time, and decided to stay at this hotel, which looked like it had a nice view. The building certainly feels like it has aged, but it seems that it has been repaired as appropriate, and it has been cleaned well, so I didn't feel any discomfort. As the name suggests, the view from the room was wonderful, overlooking the Sotoura coast. For dinner, we had a Japanese course in the large hall, and it was delicious with local ingredients used. Regarding the meal time, it seemed that the time was divided so that it would not be crowded at once, but it took about 2 hours because the dishes were carefully served one by one. I had the impression that the food was served slowly during the time period when the second half of the meal for the guests who arrived early overlapped with the first half of the meal for the guests who arrived late. Every time Mr. Nakai brought the food, he apologized saying, ”I'm sorry I'm late,” but personally, I was drinking alcohol, and my wife took pictures and talked about this and that. I was able to enjoy it at just the right pace. I don't think that's the case unless it's a Saturday or a busy season after the end of Corona. I went to the bar after dinner, and I recommend it because it has a nostalgic retro atmosphere and the seats are spacious. It takes about 10 minutes to get to the Sotoura coast through a special passage, but on the way back, it's a climb, so it's a bit tiring. One thing that bothered me was that the air volume of the hair dryer fixed in the room was weak, and it took a long time for women with long hair to dry, so I would appreciate it if you could think about it. I think it's really hard due to the long corona misfortune, but I'd like you to leave this wonderful environment forever. I will ask again.

It has about 100 ㎡ and a house, and it consists of chairs, tables, bedrooms, Japanese room small rooms, bathrooms, etc. on the wide edge along the surrounding outer window centering on 12.5 tatami Japanese rooms, and the toilet and the entrance are large. It will be suitable for family or several group trips. There is expensive juice and beer in the refrigerator and it is free. The flowers decorated in the Japanese room are not real flowers. It is a relaxed inn of 21 rooms, but the next room was not used today, and it was not seen that there were many guests. For this reason, I was not troubled by the sound, and the bedroom was not dark by the light outside, but I had a quiet and relaxing time. The hot spring is weak alkaline, transparent and no smell, but it is good for the skin. The temperature was good and I was able to soak comfortably. There are two open-air baths and a large bath, and men and women are replaced by time. There are few rooms, so there are always no one or several people. The dish was full of sea yuki. I made a little good course, and the boiling of the gold eyelid was delicious. Sashimi is also fresh, such as a few kinds of sashimi in one of the shrimp, and abalone dance. The taste is just right. The amount is a little bit large for the elderly. Breakfast is not the standard azi opening but gold eyelid. There are a lot of goods for the elderly. The employee's response is a bit habitual, but the elderly Nakai who guided the entrance is a bit habitual, but the female employee who had dinner and good breakfast and liquidation is a polite and naive person It was good that the liquidation at check-out was also done in the room. The transfer bus departs to Shimoda station every 30 minutes in the morning.

I went on a ４ consecutive holiday in autumn. Because it is ITO en hotel, the outside is quite old, but the interior is cleanly renovated and kept clean. The meal is ok, but it is originally quite reasonable for the price, and it feels like the content of the price. Especially because it is ITO, there is no good seafood. I think it is satisfactory for my family, but it is not the content that I expect to taste. However, considering the cost and content, the sea (Shimoda port) is close and convenient and the environment is good, so I think it is a recommended inn if it is important for Cospa.
