Soti lodge was the perfect location for a women’s trip. Great food, really nice accommodations and location. The scenery was beautiful and quiet. Olof was a great host. She was knowledgeable about the area and able to help with any of our questions.

Lovely modern intimate country inn with 7 rooms and gorgeous mountain views. The inn keeper Ollie was friendly and happy to answer questions about life in Iceland. She's a fine baker, too. Substantial breakfast buffet and good coffee. What a refreshing change from big hotels.

Super friendly owner, who taught us a lot about the area (both the history and, for example, the bird life). She patiently answered all our questions. The weather conditions were not ideal, so she helped us figure out what we could do. She also recommended nice walking areas in the area. The food is delicious! She made sure I got vegetarian food especially for me. So definitely recommended for wonderful relaxing days!

We had a lovely time at Soti Lodge, Arrived after long drive from Grundafur to warm welcome from staff and a relaxing soak in the pool. Dinner was delicious soup , cod in lemon sauce with salad and barley, and a creamy rice pudding with strawberries. Evening walk up the valley. Comfy beds. Next day we went to the excellent herring museum in Siglufjordur and to botanical gardens in akureyei. Discovered GoHusky just outside Akureyei where you can visit, hike, or in winter sled with friendly huskies. Another dip in pool and hot tub. Dinner was outstanding with a salad, lamb with roast potatoes, garlic cream sauce and veg followed by perhaps the best ice cream ever (vanilla caramel). Breakfast is a buffet with cheeses, eggs , meats, home baked bread, yogurt, fruit and pastries including addictive French canele. We didn’t do a horse ride but we saw others from the farm across the road at full ‘tolt’! Good blackout curtains and very quiet rural location with views of mountains and sea,

We were disappointed by this place which cost us €360 per night. The lodge website implies that this is a hotel which offers a range of activities, bookable trips and local information. Indeed, at reception area there is a poster advertising exactly this and urging guests to contact and book. Yet the young girl who gave us our key said that no activities were available for us and we could not book any. She could not advise on on the local area or hiking and could not give us any information on what we could do apart from the school swimming pool next door and a number for a riding stable. The pool was not well maintained and was always full of noisy local children and families during our stay. I was surprised at the low occupancy of this lodge in high season. Just us and one other family. The breakfast was a disgrace at this price- see photos. Cheap supermarket cheese and ham. No warm dishes or fresh pancakes, cakes etc as in other places we have stayed. We saw no evidence of the local, seasonal or artisan produce promised on the website even though there was a farm making cheeses just down the road. The evening meals were plain meat/ fish and veg. We asked for a packed lunch and were told they could do a ham salad roll for 2500 ISK each and that was it as not enough notice. We had not been asked the day before about lunch or given any options. I only knew that they did packed lunches by reading old reviews here. This was the only place we stayed in Iceland which did not send a welcome email a day or two before with information about the the property and the area or about food options. We did not see any management or owners, just the young girls giving keys, cleaning and serving food. The exclusive Deplar Farm is in this area and we began to wonder if they had creamed off the experienced staff from Soti as so different was our stay from old reviews. We regretted our booking of this lodge and in our opinion their website is deceptive. Perhaps they are selling up and no longer care much.

Just returned from a tour of Northern Iceland and spent two nights at Soti Lodge. Watched the midnight sun, ate great food courtesy of Nikola and learned a lot about Northern Iceland from our guide Megan who provided some great tips to make the most of our visit.

We loved our one night stay here. Wish we stayed at least 2 nights so we could hike and bike (next time). We were the only guests so enjoyed a quiet stay in a beautiful setting. The staff was friendly and attentive. The dinner and breakfast were delicious. We had a nice bottle of wine with dinner. Our room was comfortable and clean. Had a great soak in the jacuzzi at the community pool next door. Enjoyed viewing the Northern Lights right outside the lodge. Beautiful area. Worth the drive.

Whilst not your traditional hotel, i recommend going here for excellent food and very attentive and pleasant staff. The chef was French and adds that special touch to the menu. Very enjoyable despite the awful weather! Worth the detour up north

We were a group of Icelanders, 7 couples, and stayed for 3 nights. The hotel is very clean and cosy and the staff is extremely friendly. The food was excellent, and the breakfast very fresh and good. We had a great program wich included a boattrip, 2 days of hiking with very good guides and we did the float in the pool. The EMT bike was thrilling, wouldt miss that! This hotel and the services they offer is perfect for a group like us, we had the whole hotel for our selves😊
