Overall the stay experience is withing expectation.
There are some minor hiccups along the way with some minor issues but nothing too serious.
The hotel condition is abit worn down as compare to the pictures shown on trip.com website.This includes everything, from the reception area, to the facility and room.
The room looks clean overall, but there are some areas being missed out. I still find some food bits on the floor/cabinet and the desk is have some oil stain.
I have a bad experience with the reception as the way she responded to my question. Not offended, but it is not the usual response hotel staff should give to guest.
A few more things to take note:
-they provided luggage storage, but it is placed in a public area opposite the reception.
-the lift is small.
-the breakfast food selection and seating are limited.
Lastly, the pricing will put you into considering this hotel, topping up with some value added item coming the room size and location, and not to mention breakfast included.
Location is consider good with it being situated in the center of most major attraction. Other attractions are easily accessible with MRT.
There are a few selection of MRT lines available within a short walking distance, if the nearest one requires some detour (exchanging trains).

Do not stay at this hotel. The place Is disgusting it hasn't been cleaned since the day it opened. Black Mold all over the ceilings with unhelpful staff at reception. Was told no refund could be given after moving room and still having black mold everywhere. Left after 30 minutes. Lots of better hotels for cheaper around the area.

The first day I checked in was raining, I managed to borrow an umbrella from the staff who were very helpful. The breakfast was decent and there are water dispensers at level 2 accessible without room card. Great location to access the downtown line and circle line, less than 15 minutes walking distance to Bugis, Fort Canning park, Singapore National Library and many more. At night it was quiet and there were less crowds. My room at level 6 corner single beds room for 2 people was small and couldn't fit those with luggage 25 inches and above.

We were given a room with peeled floor tiles, shower area tile grout too dirty, smaller room than that of Japan room size. Housekeeping issues for sure. Not recommended for people who prefer a cleaner shower area and a room size to open at least a medium sized luggage with enough space to walk to the door.

Where do we start, the position was great other than that a lot of negative point.
We use the Hotel just to sleep, when we arrive at first the keys didn’t work so they gave us a key that stays on the room and always with the air condition activate. The big problem if you keep the air con active you can’t sleep cause it’s too loud, if you turn off you start to sweat immediately. After 3 days the problems starts to aggravate, air condiotion became to loud and start leaking water from ceiling and all the room became moldy and wet, they say that the air con works so they gave us TOWELS to put on the floor (we told them 3 times that we got problem).
The scary part, When my wife come down to ask the reception the elevator drop from 7th to 4th floor and then blocked, they have this issue before but I don’t think they fixed it correctly.
In a few words this hotel needs some serious maintenance, we didn’t sleep well for 4 days and we got a really bad experience.

Bencoolen Hotel looks elegant outside. But interior designs and amenities seems not upgraded. Elevators not anymore upgraded. Opening and closing of the elevator doors have some difficulty. I need to call the attention of the hotel staff about my problem with the door blinds.

Overall value for money for the price paid which include simple breakfast, its hard to find in Singapore with this price. Location is good as well. Some TV channels wasn’t working and we reported, they came up to check very quickly. Overall satisfied with the service.

Improvement to the elevator would greatly improved the stay at the hotel so that waiting time could be cut down especially check in and check out timing.

Its the dirtiest hotel in singapore I’ve ever stayed in. Room was mouldy, dirt and dust everywhere, the elevator took so long and theres just one elevator for all hotel guests to take from the lobby to the rooms. It smells, its so run down and there are stains everywhere. I am so unhappy with this stay, thanked God it was just for one night!! I developed bad rashes due to the amount of dust just over a nights stay. Really gross and overpriced for a stay that is so shabby and unsanitary
