The Pod @ Beach Road Boutique Capsule Hotel

The location of The Pod @ Beach Road Boutique Capsule Hotel is excellent, not far from both Bugis and Nicoll Highway MRT stations. It's just one stop on the Circle Line to the National Stadium. Downstairs, there's a street with many diverse restaurants, and you can easily visit landmarks like the Sultan Mosque and Arab Street. The hotel environment is quite clean. The common areas are beautiful and provide a refrigerator, microwave, coffee machine, and water dispenser. The bathrooms are individual cubicles and are kept clean by staff. What's even more noteworthy is that the beds, pillows, and bedding are very comfortable. Upon check-in, toiletries, earplugs, and disposable slippers are provided. Overall, it's pretty good. Also, the young guy at the front desk who speaks Mandarin has a fantastic service attitude.

On the 3rd floor, next to the front desk in the hotel lobby, there are basic amenities like a microwave, water dispenser, a free coffee machine, and a refrigerator. While there are no kitchen facilities for cooking full meals, you can heat up simple food. The hot water dispenser was great for making cup noodles, and the refrigerator was convenient for storing groceries I bought from the supermarket.

First off, the staff here are quite responsible, which is a big improvement over other capsule hotels. The downside is that the public areas and rooms have a terrible smell – a mix of foot odor, a sour, musty smell, and other indefinable odors. The cleanliness inside the capsules is just passable, though still much better than some of the really bad ones. The location is quite convenient, with Bugis MRT station not far from the exit.

The place is incredibly clean, I'd even say spotless. I stayed in an all-female dorm and didn't sleep well at all. Every night, someone would come back very late, usually around 3 or 4 AM, and then someone else would wake up early, around 7 or 8 AM. So, if you're a light sleeper, I wouldn't recommend booking a shared room; you really won't get any rest. The shared bathrooms and showers were tidied up daily and very thoroughly cleaned. There aren't many washing machines in the laundry room, and if you handwash, there's nowhere to hang your clothes. Once, I hung my clothes in a common area and someone took them down. The Black woman at the front desk, after taking my items and giving them back with a warning, seemed quite pleased with herself. I have no idea why she was so happy???? Encountering a good front desk staff member is really a matter of luck. Some are very polite, while others can be quite condescending.
