We were supposed to stay here two nights. This was the end point of an absolutely amazing 8 days in Co Donegal with great towns, villages, people, food, accommodations. This was the only place we got into and no one offered to help us bring all our luggage up. We had a room with a false balcony but overlooking the parking lot which would later prove to be a major issue. We had to keep the window open as it was warm. There was some prom or something going on and it was extremely noisy ALL night. We got no sleep. People were screaming, carrying on, etc When we arrived in Sligo TOWN, I immediately felt depressed and like I wanted to go back to any of the places we had been in Donegal. The town felt unsafe, unsavory, not at all charming (like Donegal TOWN had been) and not like your traditional Irish town. I prefer Dublin to this place now that I know. The next day we expressed our feelings to our driver guide when he came to get us for the day of touring Co Sligo (which by the way is gorgeous!), and he helped us find LAST MINUTE, in Buncrana (Lake of the Shadows Hotel - will review them in a bit). THANK GOD! I immediately felt relief. We could not lose another night of sleep and enjoy our days out and about. IF you stay in Sligo pick a cute place in the country, a B and B, etc. I took the least amount of pictures the night we ended up in this town.
The Glasshouse

The hotel is located in the centre of Sligo, just across the road from the Yeats Memorial Hall. The hotel has its own car park for EUR 3 per day. The soundproofing of the hotel was not very good. I heard a foreigner talking in the hallway all night. Breakfast is OK. The hotel's wifi is on the TV, you have to open to know his password.

The service was really good they were so helpful and upgraded our room free of charge which came with added touches such as robes and chocolates. The jacuzzi and pool was very enjoyable and bar food was so good. Would definitly stay again. Will recommend to friends and family.

Have just come back from an absolutly lovely weekend away in Silgo. People are giving out about staycation prices but I think that this hotel is worth the few euro extra. We had a lovely welcome from David at reception and throughout the 2 short days we were there the staff were brilliant. The room was lovely, clean and had a fab view from the balcony. I was slightly concerned about the bar next door but as soon as the balcony door was closed just silence. We chose to go to the Dunes bar up the road(slightly cheaper pricing on food) even though it does not open until 5 it is worth the wait the food is lovely and staff are welcoming and chilled. We took a stroll 'down town' as we were blessed with the weather. There is not much going on but that suited us..take a stroll along the beach or have a sea**** bath at Voya.. I would highly recommend this place if you looking for a real R&R experience..there are lots of walking trails for those feeling a bit more active . Will definitely be back again. Thanks to all the staff at this hotel for a super stay 😁
Clayton Hotel & Leisure Club Sligo

I was amazed by the appearance. It was an old castle hotel. The room was a bit dated, but the bed was soft and comfortable. The hotel restaurant tastes good, and the order is not too expensive. Many local children come to participate in club activities, and have time to try. The surrounding area is relatively desolate, only suitable for self-driving
Sligo City Hotel

Stayed in Sligo City Hotel the last 2 nights and to our opinion the staff need a bit of training in hospitality. I cannot fault the girl who checked us in as she was lovely but unfortunately didn't see her again. The second receptionist we encountered wasn't a bit helpful. When we went to breakfast he rushed us to sit down somewhere and ”a girl would be with us”. No one explained to us how breakfast works and which in my opinion, may as well give the guest a wage as its the guest doing all the work. The only thing that was brought to us was a pot of tea. We had to tell ”the girl” there was no plates, there was no sausages left. In our opinion also the food was terrible. When we brought this to the receptionist on duty, it really fell on deaf ears. He just didn't care. We stayed 2 nights and the second breakfast, we skipped. It also put us off eating dinner ehile we stayed. We are generally not ones to ever give out or complain but for the price of rooms for our stay it wasn't good enough. A lot of improvement is needed as we think this hotel has potential to do a lot better. Location was superb, the rooms were spacious and clean. There is a bit to improve there too but it was nothing to complain about.
