This reciew is only based on the quality of food. I have eaten here a few times and won't be returning. The food is far from anything special. I would not recommend ordering any food here. So disappointing considering the hoyel itself is lovely and well located.

We’ve been here several times before and had always loved it but sadly most recent was a big let down. We loved the hotel and the room was delighted but the food and service really brought it down. The order was completely wrong and food was cold, asked for a medium steak and it came out rare, the waitress wasn’t attentive at all. Didn’t get checked on once while the tables around us did..multiple times

The little things are letting it down. Asked if they do room service, was told yes, but no menu in room. Phoned reception and took three calls to finally make an order. Food turned up in a take away box?!?! (You actually having a laugh?) Shockingly poor!. Then thought I’d order breakfast in my room, but nothing to write on the order card….. and you have to take this to reception before 10pm! Nice hotel, but really poor service if you wish to hide away and not have to deal with people. Not great folks….. really…… basic things you’re messing up here.

We stayed at the hotel for 2 nights recently the room was lovely and the bathroom looked like it had recently been renovated the breakfast though was a let down cooked items looked like they were there for a long time bacon was rock hard then there’s the leisure centre looked terrible standing water everywhere needed a massive amount of work to bring it up to an acceptable standard I would give it a miss in future

We stayed at this hotel last weekend with our 2 young children. A parent is always anxious when staying at any hotel with young kids, but we were all made to feel welcome from the moment we arrived. We drove to the hotel which has its own parking directly beside it but it is also next door to the train and bus stations! What more could u ask for in terms of transport accessibility. (There is a steps up to reception but an external wheelchair lift right beside it). Our children were excited to go straight to the pool, which is relatively small but more than big enough to accommodate plenty of people. There is a regular pool and attached children's pool, which was ideal for our needs. The leisure centre staff provide towels and the changing facilities had lockers, 2 very good showers and 2 private changing rooms. On all 3 of our visits to the swimming pool (Fri, Sat and Sun) the various leisure staff provided our kids with pool toys and floats, which they loved. Gym, sauna and steam room facilities are also available which we didn't use but the gym is visible through the leisure centre lobby and it looks small but good. Our room (538) had a double bed and 2 single beds, a big bathroom with shower and bath, towel heater which was ideal for drying our swimming togs and also shampoo and shower gel provided. We also discovered that the couch in our room folded out into a double bed also! Which may suit some families more. The room itself had an ironing board, iron, fan, tea, and coffee making facilities, TV, desk area, wardrobe, etc Breakfast on both mornings was fantastic with a great range of hot and cold options (self service) and we also ate in the bar on one night, which was enjoyable. We only ordered drinks from room service but they came very quickly and the staff were so polite and friendly like all of the staff in the hotel, especially at breakfast and reception, they cannot do enough to help you! It's a short drive for those in cars to Glancar waterfall as well as the Devil's Chimney, and we also drove to Strandhill beach, which is a beautiful location also. The decor of the hotel is dated but the hotel is so clean that this only adds to the character in my opinion. The hotel is also undergoing redecoration too. Only one small negative which is the power of the shower in our room wasn't amazing, however we could shower in the leisure facilities if needed and also use the bath in our room too. Thank you to everyone in Sligo Southern Hotel for a fantastic family weekend away and we will most certainly be back!

Stayed there twice, one night in June 08' and was more than happy to come back for a second stay in March 09'. Initially my choice was based on the location of the hotel, being next door to the bus and rail stations. Very comfortable and no need to pay extra money for a taxi to get you to the hotel. Also, it's a few minutes walk to the city centre with all the shopping and dining places around. The hotel itself is very welcoming and lovely. There's a couple of areas with a fireplace and sofas around it in the lobby, a bar and a restaurant and an indoor swim pool. The room I had was big and fancy looking with thick deep red curtains. There's a pretty big closet in the room and an alarm clock with a radio, a plazma tv mounted on the wall and a big coffee table with a couple of chairs. The bathroom wierdly enough had a pretty big window facing the street right in the middle of the wall (with a white curtain), but I guess no one's to see you on the 4th floor. There wasn't such window in the room I stayed in the first time. The water power was very good, a pleasant change from my Dublin hotels experience. There was also a towel warmer inside which proved to be very handy during my winter visit. Had a lovely view of the street leading into the centre of town, and the big clock from the Immaculate Church of Conception's bang was heard every quarter of an hour. Loved it the first time I stayed and therefore booked into it for the second time and will be coming back.

We stayed at the Sligo Southern Hotel on the 7th and 8th of March, and from the moment we arrived, we were blown away by the hospitality. We had informed the hotel that we were getting engaged and they truly went above and beyond to make our stay special. I would especially like to thank Caroline for sorting out the special touches and for Steven on the desk who was very helpful and very friendly and gave us really good advice about where to go to eat to watch the rugby and for evening drinks. Every detail was taken care of with such kindness, and the staff couldn’t do enough for us. The food was fantastic, the atmosphere warm and welcoming, and the service exceptional. Their extra efforts made our engagement trip even more memorable, and we couldn’t have asked for a better experience. If you’re looking for a hotel in Sligo that delivers amazing service with a personal touch, we highly recommend Sligo Southern Hotel. We’ll definitely be back!
