This was the venue for our family wedding celebration. Such a beautiful location inside and out. Staff were excellent from start to finish, looking after our every need. Food was served perfectly, correct order, and in tip top condition , both presentation and taste. From main meal to evening chicken and chips it was excellent. Small touches were in abundance and helped to add to an overall memorable experience. The gardens are beautiful and allow folks to spread out and enjoy the setting.

My daughter’s wedding was on 06/06/2024 at The Vicarage Boutique Hotel. The weather was great, sun shining and blue sky. Guests were travelling from Wales, Leicestershire and as far as Dubai. The venue was immaculate, decorated to a very high standard and the scent you smell when you first walk in is beautiful from the insense sticks which are available to buy. Each and every room is stunning as are the gardens. The bedrooms are spacious, beautifully decorated with en-suites and the beds are very comfortable. The food was the best we’ve ever tasted, hats off to the chefs. A special thanks to Mark Elliott for singing at our daughter’s wedding, he did a tremendous job with his amazing voice ensuring everyone danced the night away. Thanks also to Jenny from Flower Barn Jenny for the beautiful flower arrangements, thanks to the wonderful Katie of DaisyBell photography who was incredible. Finally a massive thank you to all the staff at the vicarage and especially to Jess and Chelsea who ensured everything ran smoothly and effortlessly and who were so kind and welcoming. It was the most magical day and I wish it didn’t have to end.

I’ve thought and thought about what I could write in this review and I just feel really disappointed and a little ripped off after my experience as a guest at this wedding. Firstly I’d like to point out my expectations were high, I’ve followed the old vicarage on social media for a number of years and it’s absolutely beautiful and has always come across so well online. The venue itself has been done to a very high standard. I can appreciate the hard work that goes in to keeping the venue look as pristine as it is so credit where credit is due. However, I feel like my overall experience was just tainted by rude staff (there was one female member of staff who was particularly ‘militant’ and a lack of fluidity in the day which was constantly broken up by members of staff moving us around, telling us the rules. I’ll leave you with one example - we ordered a bottle of wine from the bar and the young bar staff (who were lovely as well as the young service staff) and he kindly let me keep the bottle in the fridge and top up my glass as and when I was ready for it. The particularly stern lady I previously mentioned, came straight over and said aloud for all to hear “is that a bottle purchase, we don’t sell that one by the glass” Of course it was a bottle purchase so there was no need for her to cause a scene and show her authority. Overall a very disappointing experience- Won’t be going back or recommending

From the moment we stepped into The Old Vicarage on a wedding open day we knew instantly this had to be our venue - the decor, the attention to detail and the friendless of the staff just made us fall in love with it! The planning was so easily and seamless Laura was always on hand to help and answer any queries. We used a mixture of our own suppliers and those recommended by the team and they complemented each other wonderfully. Our wedding day was better than we could have ever imagined Laura and the team on the day ensured everything ran smoothly, with such elegance! The canapés and wedding breakfast were amazing (our guests described the food as the best wedding food they had ever tasted) I’m so glad we added canapés - they just added that extra bit of special! The rooms are beautiful and to see our guests faces light up when they checked in was brilliant! We’ve lost track of how many times we’ve been told it’s was the best wedding our guests had ever been to (& they meant it!) The team never missed a beat, the venue is absolutely stunning and we will never be able to thank Laura and the team at The Old Vicarage enough for making our wedding day the best day of our lives! We wish we could do it all over again! Jake & Rachel

Just so there are no crossed wires about the whereabouts of this venue this review is based on my dealings and service regarding our wedding booking at the Old Vicarage in Southwell, Nottingham. Laura, who is the only lady I have met at this venue due to her showing my fiancée and I around for our viewing for a potential wedding there , she was lovely, open, friendly and honest, we spent just over an hour with her one Sunday afternoon (end of Jan 2023) whilst she beamed about the venue, showed us around all of the wonderful bedrooms and she was proud to let us know she got married there. All was well and within a few days we were keen to get a booking in (paid early Feb for a wedding on a Saturday in June 2024. The old vicarage was the only venue we had viewed, we looked at various venues online so we felt the Old Vicarage was right for us due to the decor, the location and the layout of the venue plus having Laura alongside to work with. We handed over 1K to lock in a wedding date via bank transfer (should have noticed a red flag here as only bank transfer and cash were accepted) After reading all of the pages of the contract thoroughly (and there were a few) we felt really concerned. We didn’t expect such harsh and unrealistic terms and conditions. I would advise if you are planning to get married here these are the terms you and your partner need to agree with- 1. The total cost given is with and without VAT in the contract so with some and without in other parts of it so you need to work it out and read very carefully 2. Be prepared to NOT be able to taste the food they will be presenting to your guests for the wedding breakfast as they just don’t offer that piece of mind 3. No draught beer!!! Terrible for the chaps. Min card payment of £10 and no cash accepted at the bar (doesn’t matter if you were planning on paying for all but in case you decide to have a fixed figure behind the ‘bar’ this could be an issue for the odd guest 4. There are 8 bedrooms at the old vicarage, each being £195 per room (without VAT and including breakfast) so that’s £1870 total. If you would like to stay the night before your wedding (which I wanted to, you are penalised for it) so you can but for over double as much as the night of your wedding (£4200 that’s including the VAT of which I did the Math for) with zero negotiation even them not having a wedding at the venue the day before. 5. You can only arrive at the venue 1 hour before the wedding ceremony (no earlier!!) and you are limited to who comes in the bridal suite with you. So if you would like photos arriving and time to get into your wedding dress and have a glass so you are feeling nice and relaxed forget it! 6. No fridges available for your cake or flowers 7. Any staff member are within their rights to enter any of our guests bedrooms at any time and take any alcohol that has been purchased outside of the venue and will charge £50 for EACH item found. Wow! (Not that any of our guests would consi

My daughter and partner tied the knot here on Thursday February 23rd , to say their day was amazing at the old vicarage would be a massive understatement, every single detail was perfect from the rooms , food, venue, grounds, and the service from the staff was impeccable. They are truly a credit to the place and hope the owners appreciate their value to the business. A perfect day for a perfect couple,on behalf of Richard and carina quite simply thank you.
