The pictures that we saw online and the hotel, which we actually stayed in, tell two different stories altogether. We were looking for a basic and clean hotel beside the Srinagar airport because we only needed it to crash for a night since we had an early checkout the next day. But spending even a couple of hours in this terrible hotel was cumbersome. The room was filthy, with sticky floors. The quilt cover had stains all over it and I wouldn’t have been surprised if I’d gotten bit by bed bugs or ants. The pillowcases had strands of hair all over them. And the bathroom was a total disaster. Calling it filthy would be an understatement. The self-wash wasn’t in proper working condition, the shower turned on after much difficulty, the bucket and mug were broken and dirty. The hotel was simply terrible - a pungent smell of damp, damage in the corridors as though a mass brawl has taken place, mould on the windows, stained beds and mosquitoes and flies running around everywhere in the room. The receptionist seemed to have no clue regarding the whereabouts of the city and totally misguided us when we asked him how to get to a restaurant for a meal. They switch off the electricity for the entire hotel (including the guest rooms) at 9 am and will switch it on again at 7 pm (after 10 hours). They will provide warm water only from 6 am till 9 am in the morning and 7:30 pm till 10 pm in the evening. We were shocked to see these rules and cursed ourselves for booking this hotel. It is not even a 1 star hotel. This hotel should be banned by the government immediately and the online portals such as Goibibio and MMT should immediately delist it from their apps. All in all, it was a horrid experience and I’d like to tell all of you to simply AVOID this hotel.
