There was this instance that my room card didn’t work so I need to go all the way their sister hotel. Rooms were clean. I recommend The Herbert Hotel! :)"

The inn is in a safe and quiet part of town near the marina, with several major landmarks within walking distance. Reception was always friendly & helpful, even late at night. They were around to assist with finding parking lots when it got crowded. They also handled package deliveries in an organized and efficient manner. Our only complaint was the carpet in the room was perpetually cold and wet throughout our stay due to the air con leaking, and the wetness extended over half the room. We called about this but was told it's normal. However we were able to overlook this by wearing shoes in the room. Otherwise, we had a great stay here!

Tried to check in at 3pm but room wasn't ready and had to wait another hour. Not ideal but ok as we just went for a walk around the area to familiarise ourselves. Room was spacious and clean. Housekeeping only came on the first day but that's OK cause we hung our towels up to dry so didn't need new ones. Free parking was convenient but only limited spots available upstairs, the rest is below the building and due to the way some people park we couldn't fit out large ford into any spots. Would be good if hotel asked that smaller cars park downstairs and reserve upstairs spots for larger suv's.

Basic motel-style accommodation. The rooms was very clean, but on the small side. In the morning a basic breakfast is available in the lobby, consisting of coffee/juices, some cereals, cinnamon buns, pancakes and a piece a fruit. The bed and pillows are very comfortable, ensuring a great night's sleep. The location is also excellent, very convenient to start your sightseeing trip.

I had a wonderful experience! Highly recommend! This place is a piece of San Francisco history. Beautiful stained glass windows and decorative wood trim. Each room is decorated with unique antique furniture and artwork. No two rooms have the same décor. The staff take pride in their hotel. Everyone was welcoming and genuinely cared that I was enjoying my stay. They have really good free coffee and all the toiletries are available in the bathroom, so you don't need to bring shampoo or soap. I wasn't sure how the shared bathrooms would work, but it ended up being just fine. They have lots of individual shower rooms and bathrooms. I never had to wait, and since each toilet or shower is its own room with a door that locks behind you, no one is walking in on you. Full privacy. Great location too! There is a fancy Italian restaurant downstairs. Trader Joe's is a block away, and Fisherman's Wharf just a few blocks beyond that. Walking distance to Coit Tower and the zig-zag of Lombard Street. This place is great, and I hope to stay here again.

Go read about the history of the famous Utah Saloon build more than 100 years ago. This facility is operated by an Indian immigrant family and the hallways have a pleasant smell of incense. Pay attention to the shared washroom detail — each floor has one shower and washroom to share. This wasn’t an issue during my stay. The music bar and restaurant on first floor are great with some local performers. Red line train to Chinatown is right across the stress very convenient. Whole foods market also just a block away. As with a lot of SF — there are street people in tents in the neighborhood which can make some travelers anxious — but remember they are not hostile and are a problem all over the city. Overall I had a great experience in this historical hotel. it’s also useful to note they accept a variety of cards visa, MS, china Unionpay, etc.
