3-Star Hotels in Lake Tekapo

Location: Perched on a hill, it's a bit of a walk but very quiet. It's about a 15-minute uphill stroll from Tekapo's main street. Ambiance: It feels very much like a home owned by a Chinese host, which is a comfortable style, for example, they provide facial tissues. Cleanliness: Extremely clean. Facilities: The kitchen facilities are comprehensive, making it very convenient to prepare simple meals. Service: Communication was smooth leading up to check-in. However, for some unknown reason, the host became unreachable two hours before check-in on the day itself. Otherwise, the check-in experience would have been even smoother. Overall, it's definitely worth booking!

This feels more like a guesthouse than a hotel. The facilities are quite new, and it seems to be part of a resort developed by Chinese investors. It's very close to the Church of the Good Shepherd and other town amenities, just a 3-minute drive away, making it ideal for self-driving travelers. The room decor is modern, and it's a pretty good option if the price is right. It comes with a kitchen and some basic utensils, but there weren't enough bath towels and hand towels in the bathroom. There was a note on the wall saying you could add staff on WeChat to request more supplies, but I didn't do that. The downside is that there's no daily room cleaning. On the second day, someone came to change the hand towels, but they said they'd bring bath towels later and never did, so the service is actually quite mediocre. Oh, and a huge bonus: you can see stars and the Milky Way right outside at night!

The rooms are clean, spacious, and quiet. Each room has its own parking spot right outside, and it's just a five-minute drive to the town center, making it super convenient for getting around. You'll need to head to the town center for meals, and I did feel that parking could be a bit tight there. If you're traveling by car, I highly recommend this place! Since the town isn't very well lit at night, if you're lucky, you can stargaze right from the courtyard behind your room – no need to drive all the way to the lake!

We stayed at this Tekapo home and really enjoyed how spacious it is, especially with two separate living rooms — plenty of room for everyone to relax. The house comes with all the necessary amenities, which made the stay convenient and comfortable. However, a few cleanliness details could be improved. The dishwasher wasn’t clean and didn’t wash dishes properly, and the detergent compartment couldn’t close fully. We also noticed some areas, like the restroom ventilator, had layers of dust and hadn’t been cleaned well. Overall, the space and setup are great, but a bit more attention to cleaning and maintaining would make the experience much better.

The apartment is quite a distance away from the town centre, especially if you do not have a vehicle, do note that there is no uber in Lake Tekapo, I recommend hiring a taxi (NZD $30) per trip. Although it’s a hefty amount, it will save you a huge effort especially if you do not have a vehicle! But i won’t recommend staying here if you do not have a vehicle! Room is nice, clean!

I booked the studio room and it was great. The kitchenette had everything you needed and the room was a good size. Had everything you needed. Easy to find and in a quieter part of town - only about a 15 minute walk into the heart of the town. Beautiful place with an awesome view of snowy mountains!

An ok stay in lake tekapo, but be aware the limited amenities at this property compared to other accommodations in the area. No washer no stove and even the WiFi wasn’t working properly one morning. Not to mention the price can even be higher than others. Look twice before you book this one.

The stay was good, quite a new apartment for a family of 3, I think it can stay up to 4. Just that, quite a distance from Lake Tekapo, which we need to walk 10 -15 minutes to reach the Lake to view Milky way. There are some minor defers that was there before my stay, hope they could fix for the next stay. Overall, I love the view and hope to stay there again.

This hotel is only 500 meters from the Church of the Good Shepherd. The rooms are spacious, with a double bed and a single bed, as well as a table, chairs, and a sofa. The kitchen is fully equipped, and there is also a washing machine. The owner is Chinese, so communication is easy.
