Greenwoods Hotel & Spa

I took my mum for the Mother’s Day afternoon tea today and the food, service and entertainment (Rosie Holman) were all outstanding! The staff were charming and we were offered both plenty of room and plenty of time. The tea itself was lovely and we were provided boxes to take home the cakes we couldn’t finish during our sitting. The singer was stupendous and I sincerely hope she is invited back again as we attend Greenwoods Mother’s Day event annually.

I visited Greenwoods Spa with my mum and sister, hoping for a relaxing and luxurious day out. Sadly, we were left incredibly disappointed and uncomfortable. While we were impressed by the friendliness of the serving staff and the quality of the food, which was genuinely lovely, the rest of the experience fell far short of expectations. The cleanliness was shocking. The chairs around the pool were filthy. Both the armrests and the seat cushions were stained and clearly had not been cleaned in a long time. I have attached a photo for reference. The pink spa sofas really speak for themselves. The floor was also grimy, which made the whole place feel unpleasant. It is hard to relax in an environment that feels neglected and unclean. We were also very surprised to be told we had to completely change out of our robes just to have lunch. No gowns allowed. It felt unnecessary and ruined the relaxing flow of the day. Even more strange was the fact that a full wedding party was seated in the same room as us. It was awkward for both them and us. There was no sense of separation or privacy, which made the experience feel chaotic and poorly planned. To top it off, the massage was very underwhelming. It felt rushed and lacked the care and attention you would expect from a proper spa treatment. Overall, we left feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. It is a shame because with better attention to cleanliness, planning and guest comfort, this could have been a great day. Based on our visit, I would not recommend Greenwoods Spa.

Beautiful gardens . Good parking. Reception . Dinning room. Corridors well maintained. Large room lovely decor Breakfast was good and the service was excellent. Room not replished with towels and pillows . Tea / coffee missing including tea spoons. Bed wasn’t made up completely. Bed lights not plugged in and we had to move bed headboard to find plugs . Bathroom wasn’t clean and smelt of dirty drains which I reported to housekeeper and receptionist . We just had to run hot water down shower / bath and flush toilet. Bathroom door handle was broken and door wouldn’t shut properly unless slammed. Window plantation blinds need a lot of maintenance and repair or replacement. Paint work had dirty black marks on skirting boards/ window frames/ doors and window ledges. For £300 a night it wasn’t up to standard which is a great shame as it has so much to like and bar/ restaurant staff were excellent.
