YHA Stratford-Upon-Avon

Stayed with a friend in Ophelia pod for 2 nights. The pod was great and we used the cutlery, plates, microwave, fridge and kettle. Also made use of the communal kitchen inside the hostel itself. I'm not a big fan of the 'wetroom' concept in the pod so made use of the shared shower inside the hostel but my friend braved it! Marc on Reception was super-helpful. Quiet location and only 10 mins drive from Stratford-upon-Avon. We did a 45 min walk round the village which was on the YHA website one evening too.

We love the YHA in Stratford. The staff are friendly & helpful. There are beautiful mature landscaped gardens and two sheltered walled gardens with yurts and wooden glamping pods in the landscaped gardens. There are lots of communal spaces, including a self catering kitchen, a licensed bar and restaurant offering everything we need. Beautiful Stratford is a short walk away and a perfect base to go paddle boarding nearby at the Old Bathing Place. One of our favourite places to get away from it all!

Great place to stay with the family. Lots of good facilities and very comfortable. Would highly recommend for groups or individuals. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious and service was very quick. We had dinner and breakfast.

Positives Shared bathroom and shower were very clean Social spaces (games room, kitchen, lounge) were very nice Handsoap provided in the bedroom with sink Some food was nice (eg. Breakfast but the lunch was insufficient) Negatives Our room had a moth problem as many entered the window and went towards the beds that we had to kill. Room was very hot so we couldn't shut the window and stop the moths Room was very dark without natural lighting, there was a hole in the ceiling where a light should have been, couldn't see anything Many dents in walls Gum was stuck to reading light/plug next to the bed Stained sheets/bedding Weird smells in the stair area Lock on bedroom door was very difficult to use so took a long time to open and close door and wasn't secure. One of the shared toilets did not flush Bunk bed ladders poor Ps. Bring second pillow if that is your preference as only one is provided on your bed

The atmosphere in this spacious house was very warm, welcoming. You can easily feel at home there. Very nice mixture of ages, from pupils to pensioners! Very friendly staff. Like in a lot of hostels, sleeping in dorms is not of greatest quality. It's good to bring ear pluggs and eye cover as there are no curtains to protect you from light and sound. But the dorm is spacious, there's a cabinet with plenty of space for your belongings.

We came back again for three nights, accompanied by my two young children. We always have a great time, it is so safe for the children and fellow people staying and staff friendly. The children felt they had a lot of freedom in a welcoming environment. Nice and close to Stratford, a lovely place to explore. We stayed in the accessible room on the ground floor near reception. My only gripe is that the room was not what I would call properly clean on arrival. There was quite a bit of dust on fixtures and fittings and debris under beds etc. The bathroom could also do with a deep clean. Either the cleaners are not trained/doing a good enough job and/or they are not properly supervised. Also, I got totally confused by the signage in the kitchen about turning on the extraction fan above the hops when cooking, but it failed to point out that the hob would indeed NOT WORK without the fan on, which is a different message altogether... I turned on all the hobs and even told the person at reception they were not working, only to be told the fan needed to be turned on for them to work. It wasn't just me who was confused, the next person who entered the kitchen had the very same issue! We hope to be back soon.

Plenty of free parking. Lovely grounds. Space for the kids to run around. They enjoyed playing on the giant outdoor xylophone and building a den in the walk-in bushes. The room was the standard YHA room that you'd expect. Not massively spacious but adequate for our needs. We had an en suite. We ate in the restaurant for our evening meal and breakfast. Food was nice and worked out very reasonably priced with the kids (under 10s) eat free deal. The kids enjoyed playing in the games room and a treat from the vending machine! All the staff were very friendly and helpful. We commented on how cheerful everyone was. Had a lovely stay.

An excellent way to stay in Stratford upon Avon. An easy walk into Stratford. Visiting to go to the Attic Theatre( also a wonderful venue for delightful entertainment). Stayed in a camping 'pod', which is a delight. Very compact shower and loo ensuite plus fridge, microwave, kettle and crockery and cutlery. In good weather verandah to sit out on. The staff are friendly welcoming and very happy to help and advise about local walks and amenities. Highly recommended as a very reasonable way to stay near Stratford-upon-Avon without breaking the bank balance.
