Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras ★★★★★

"The hotel does not have an a/c. Temperature was not high yet sleeping with an open window brought in bugs, which was awfully disturbing. Hotel should at least have nets on windows? Some rooms have a cooling system which is better than nothing, however it’s not quiet enough, and not cold, but at least you can close the window. Pool area doesn’t open to the outside so no air and no a/c. Becomes quite warm unless you are in the pool. Gym has no a/c either. A room for approximately 500 euros doesn’t even have a kettle let alone a coffee machine quite standard today definitely in 5 star hotels. You have free parking outside but the garage costs 50 euros per night!!! Breakfast has a nice selection but vegetables were mushy. Perhaps that‘s in the area as another restaurant had same issue. I assume hotel is better for a winter stay… We did manage to enjoy somehow but it was not worth the cost. However, staff all over the hotel was extremely nice and attentive and tried to be as helpful as possible. Otherwise i would have rated the experience as terrible."

"The location of the hotel is very good, in a quiet area but close to the points of interest in the resort. Pleasant, calm atmosphere. The room booked was a family studio, with a separate bedroom and an equipped kitchen. We didn't have a balcony but it wasn't that disturbing. Daily cleaning. Friendly staff. I would definitely return to the location. I recommend it."

Hotel Panorama ★★★★

"The panorama in Štrbské Pleso is an architectural icon – worth the stay for that alone. However, for a price that, while not exorbitant, was still considerable, we had expected a bit more in some areas. The heating in our rooms was practically impossible to regulate; we were advised to lower the temperature by ventilating. The breakfast buffet was generally okay, but already seemed to be dwindling an hour before it ended. The coffee from the machines was barely acceptable. Furthermore, unlike at the other hotels, the access road to the main entrance had not been cleared of snow and ice. On the other hand, there were some positive aspects: The hotel is generally in good condition. The rooms are modern, clean, and functionally furnished; complimentary drinks in the minibar are a nice touch. We were able to park our car conveniently in the underground garage. The view from the hotel of the mountains and towards the Low Tatras is enchanting. The lake, hiking trails, and train station are all within easy walking distance. There are also cafés, restaurants, and small snack bars nearby. The staff were friendly, professional, and some spoke excellent German. In conclusion: An experience we wouldn't want to miss – and, with the above information, we can certainly recommend it to other friends of the Tatra Mountains and striking, deliberately unconventional architecture."

"If you want to go to a nature’s resort just to stay in a hotel entirely surrounded by paved roads, stay right next to a busy bus stop and parking lot, have noisy tourists passing by from sunset to sunrise and be treated by the receptionist like he is doing you a favor, this is THE perfect place to say. Otherwise do yourself a favor and steer clear from this tourist trap!"
