Lindisfarne Bed & Breakfast
"Stayed here for 1 night on a work trip and the thing that stood the most to me is how very clean and well presented the room was. Everything was just so clean and well presented. Very nice modern room and modern bathroom. The host was also very friendly and helpful. 2 minutes away from the ferry is a bonus. Would definitely recommend"
Ferry Inn
"The Ferry Inn had comfortable and clean accommodations. Everyone on the staff was incredibly friendly and polite. The location really is just about 1 minute to the ferry terminal which also serves as the bus terminal so all your transport needs are steps away. I would return and stay here in a heart beat. I had a few issues. We stayed in the main building on the top floor. This has 3 issues. 1. The stairs to the top floor (in particular) are quite narrow and steep. I have a bad knee and while i could negotiate those stairs if i had any more serious mobility issues it would have been an issue. 2. The ceiling on the top floor is about 6'2" high. I am 6 foot and the ceiling felt close if I were a taller person it would have been a more serious issue. 3. The wifi was very intermittent in our room. When connected it was quite strong but it dropped a few times an hour."
The Royal Hotel Stromness
"Great place to stay, large and comfortable room which was nice and quiet even though it's above the bar. The breakfast was lovely too. It's shame they don't serve evening meals in the back lounge area of the bar as it looked a nice cost area. We would definitely stay here again."
The Stromness Hotel by Paymán Club
"With very little on offer in Stromness and much higher prices than across the ferry in mainland Scotland this was an ideal location right next to the ferry terminal in a historic building. I stayed in room 10 which was a smaller room at the back of the hotel and seems to have been forgotten. You can see wall partitions that this is not the original design of the room. There was an old carpet, old chair/wardrobe (not vintage). Door key is upside down, wardrobe hangers backwards, light bulb would hum. Bathroom was very Victorian with separate hot/cold taps. All of the windows are sealed shut. Only one plug outlet with an extension cord to run the tv and charge your phone. The tv kept freezing and pixilating until I got the guy at the front desk to fix the cables. Despite all that the hotel did grow on my. The dining room is prime location overlooking the harbour and is a good hot cooked buffet breakfast. When people checked out at 11am I looked in the other rooms at the front of the hotel which were much nicer than my room. Try to stay in those rooms instead of room 10."
Stromness Apartments
"We stayed in this charming flat during our visit to Orkney and couldn’t have been happier with our choice. Situated on the outskirts of Stromness, it’s about a pleasant 20-minute walk into the heart of town. The property, part of a larger house, comes with the convenience of a private parking space right at the door. Inside, the flat was spotless, spacious, and thoughtfully equipped for a comfortable stay. The fully stocked American-style kitchen had everything we needed, from cutlery and cooking utensils to oil, tea, and instant coffee. The bathroom was well appointed, and the bedroom was nice and cosy. Reliable Wi-Fi covered the entire property."
