Delightful owner and a genuine welcome

First it was hard to park, the drive way full of building equipment and stuff. On entering with case and bags we were asked to remove our shoes due to people leaving stains on the carpet. This we would not do. Our shoes where clean and its up to the owner to have suitable carpets for guest use. Janina is lovely. It's not her fault for the rule . But we will not walk around in sox. The terrace room was nice. But the bed far too low, due to how the insulation has been done. No kettle or tea. You had to go downstairs to make it. Not good as I like to come back to my room. Bath relax and not want to dress to get a drink. And same in the morning. Slip on a dressing gown and have coffee. Not dress and go downstairs. Our shower head was awful. Limescale and rust. But it was soon sorted . There was no sink plug. Which we were told was missing a long time. Breakfast was not bad but bacon overcooked and sausages cheap. Fried egg.perfect.. The terrace decking wants a good clean and the furniture although good. I didn't want to sit on it as its pretty green!. Needs cleaning. It could be a lovely place if a few tweaks were done. It is in a beautiful setting .

Painswick is very pretty. Hard getting in and out of Tibbiwell Lodge parking

Two of us stayed here two nights in two rooms while waking the Cotswold Way. I had the nicer room which had a balcony overlooking the garden - ideal for a glass of wine before dinner. The lodge was run by a Romanian woman, Jannina, who kept everything in good order. Rooms were well equipped and the furnishings and decor were high end. Location good, just a short walk from the town centre. Overall, happy with the experience.

Give it a miss! Difficulty parking on arrival. Had to park between a works lorry which moved to one side for us and a fork lift. Room small, poorly furnished, one drawer in room, half size wardrobe containing an electric box hung on wire. No tea or coffee facilities in room. ‘Private’ bathroom along landing. Very small old tv with screen held in place by room fan. Remove shoes at outer door. Twin beds comfy. Breakfast ok. We only stayed for the one night, having booked for 3 nights, but was still charged the full 3 night’s rate of £360. Hosts words were “loads of people ask me to reduce the price, but I don’t do that”. It wasn’t just our opinions then? Very disappointing. Avoid at all costs.

The Tibbiwell Lodge is run in a way that shows why they love what they do. The place is adorable, clean, exactly as pictures show but actually better, and the hosts are amazing - friendly, accommodating, and extremely hospitable. The grounds are amidst the beauty of the entire village and surroundings! I would highly recommend this place to anyone and I would love to go back one day!
