We stayed at the Fiddleford Inn for two nights at the end of August 2023 due to a sad occasion of attending a funeral of a friends wife. I had stayed there before but the ownership has changed since then, (and we stayed in the same room). We stayed with friends and we took all 4 rooms, another couple joined us for dinner but they were staying elsewhere in Sturminster Newton, so we had a table booked for 10 people on both nights. The basic card menu was concise but there was something there for most people but the specials board further enhanced the selection; the quality and amount was excellent. The selection of real ales and guest beers was great and I think most of us over indulged on the 1st night, the 2nd night being a bit more subdued, by way of food and drink, after the funeral. Barrie, the landlord was an excellent host, and his wife and her team of waitresses worked hard, no-one was left waiting for food for very long. Breakfast was of an equally high standard, and Barrie was very accommodating with regard to what was available (to quote "if I've got it, you can have it"). The rooms were well furnished and maintained, plenty of tea and coffee facilities along with bottled water, the ensuite was more than adequate and the bed was the most comfortable I have slept in for a long while. The only down side was that the Inn is quite near a main road and being a listed building it is single glazed, meaning there is some traffic noise but it's hardly a big deal. Shower gel would have been a nice to have but again no big deal. I would definitely stay here again.
