Friendly service and a classy ambiance . The chickpea and coconut soup was amazing - so full of Moroccan flavours. Salt cod fritters superb. Sunday roast pork was lovely with proper crackling. Great selection of wines at decent prices. Recommend booking in advance.

Another lovely meal at this cosy pub after our annual Boxing Day walk - a tradition we intend to keep up. Second time we have found The Anchor serving food on Boxing Day! Great food and brilliant, friendly service, and the open fire was such a bonus after the damp weather outside! See you next year!!

On the malt coast and serving a choice of Adam beers this is a pub to revisit again and again. Food was great as was the atmosphere. Add the cleanliness and attentive service and you can see why it is so popular. Seafood is a wise choice. That says it all, but there’s a minimum character limit

Lovely pub and restaurant in Walberswick. Central to everything. It’s mainly a fish restaurant. I don’t like fish. So they went out of their way to do me 4 massive local butchers sausages which were delicious with beautiful hand cut home cooked chips. Absolutely beautiful lunch. Unfortunately my husband found a small piece of baking paper in his pork terrine. Wasn’t a problem. We only told them so they could be aware in the future. When we got the bill, my husband’s starter and my main meal were taken off the bill. How fantastic of them. The waiter Mo could not have been any nicer or anymore accommodating. Would highly recommend this pub to anyone. 10/10 guys.

We have just come back from The Anchor in Walberswick after a long August weekend. We had a wonderful time. Sophie and Mark Dorber are superb hosts, and have a terrific, efficient and super friendly team around them. We could see a lot of regular customers and they were on first name terms with all of them. The food is unfailingly excellent. The breakfasts (starting off with freshly made bread) provided ample choice. Cannot think of a better way to start the day! The lunches and dinners we had were marvellous. The menu is thoughtful and varied. The ingredients are fresh. Not a single dish disappointed us over the 3 days. The portions are large. This is not overly complicated food, just carefully thought-out dishes that are well-executed and tasty. The service is friendly and prompt. A very discerning wine list too! Indoors has a pub at the front and a restaurant at the back, The vibe indoors is cosy and comfortable. A lot of cartoons on the wall by Charlie Mackesy (author of "The Boy, The Mole, The Fox and The Horse") who is a local. Lots of interesting books and cookbooks fill the shelves. The outdoor seating areas to the front and the back are as you would see in a pub garden. For families sitting outdoors after a day on the beach, there is a pizza oven churning out fresh pizzas all day! The accommodation in the cabins towards the rear was comfy and overlooked a lovely garden full of hollyhocks in bloom. For our last night (which was an afterthought) we moved to a room atop the main pub. This was comfy too in an old fashioned way. The location is very handy for the beach, the village green and the ferry to Southwold. We were lucky with the weather. We spent one day pottering around Walberswick and Southwold and another day walking to Dunwich and back (out through marshes and woods, pause for a cream tea, and walk back along the beach). We went one evening to Aldeburgh and on our way back to London we took in the farm shop at Friday Street and the shops and galleries at Snape Maltings. Aim to see the RSPB reserve at Minsmere the next time we are here. Hats off to Sophie and Mark and their daughter Rose, and their entire team (far too many of them to name and they are all wonderful, but Luke, Yoni and Vivien looked after us much of the time and made us feel very much at home).

We visited today for tea, because we arrived at 4:30 we were only able to order either pizza or fish and chips unless we wanted to wait until 5 to order other meals on the menu. I am so glad we were limited to these two choices as that’s the only reason I ordered fish and chips, our daughter had the chorizo woodfired pizza and every meal was outstanding. Your staff are faultless and the garden and pub are beautiful. Best pub/dinner experience I’ve had for a very very long time. Looking forward to returning.

On our North Suffolk holiday we thought The Anchor was the best pub and restaurant in our week long break. Arriving early for our booked table for four we had a pre dinner drink in the snug. The afternoon meal served in the larger bar with a roaring fire was superb. We had cod, a curry and two Venison pies which extremely tasty. The meal and drink service was efficient and timely. The atmosphere was great and all other diners seem to enjoy their meals too. Despite a few TA negative reviews we would recommend it on the strength of our experience.

Great location. Pretty grounds but garden chalet a bit stark. Decor in need of some imagination. Not pretty or cosy at all. Once in the room you’d never guess you were by the sea! Also cobwebs, dead insects splattered over ceiling. Very corporate hotel feel - basic. Food/breakfast option again - underwhelming. This place could be fabulous but lacks all those things that make a holiday ‘special’. Inconsiderate visitors next door - impacted on peace and quiet and privacy. Shame - quite expensive room rates too. BUT handy for everything and very central.

Visited this pub whilst on holiday during the heatwave. We sat outside under a tree - lovely setting, lovely yummy food - staff couldn’t do enough for us. Bought water for our dog. This is a lovely place to eat with a varied menu we would highly recommend
