Late July 2024,I made reservations for two sailboats and a powerboat at the marina a day in advance. A long transit got us to Backeddy Marina at approximately 1745.The 50 ft powerboat took the outside visitors dock and the marina assigned us two spots on the inside. Upon our arrival we discovered that two aluminum sport fishing boats were in our spots. The staff had gone home at 1700. The operators of the two sport fishing boats were in the bar and simply squatted on the wharf when the staff went home. We spotted a small open space further along the inside wharf and barely got into it due to 3 kt currents raging through the marina. The other sailboat had to stand off the marina until we could figure out what to do. We moved the fishing boats along the dock to open up barely enough space for one of us but not two. Our friends barely made it to the dock.Approximately an hour later the crews off the two fishing boats left the bar and attended their boats. They asked us were they in our spaces? You can guess my response. They did not offer any apology for their selfishness. It’s my estimation that this a regularly occurence. After they left I had a tricky departure from my temporary spot that is located to a hazardous reef situated a few meters from the south part of marina. I successfully repositioned to our assigned berth two hours after we first arrived. Take aways for us and warnings to anyone wanting to stay at this marina: 1. The currents can run up to 5 kts through the marina. If you arrive after 5 there will be no staff to help you land. 2. The marina docks are in appalling condition. The bull rails( were you secure your mooring lines) are either loose, broken or completely destroyed. How can management tolerate such a hazard and risk to their guests? 3. There are only a few power hookups that are easily outnumbered by transient guests. 4. There was a persistent sewage odor wafting over the marina. Wash rooms and showers were way below standard. 5. I spoke with the manager next morning and related our experience of the previous evening.Crickets and no displayable concern. Since you pay in advance you are not going to get much sympathy. I would avoid Backeddy Marina unless you need fuel or experience an emergency of somekind. Finally, you can determine how well a business is run by the state of their asset. The fuel dock looked in serious disrepair and would you trust fuel from their delivery system. We didn’t and opted to refuel in Pender Harbour.

The Good: Our room in the Inn had a great view, was roomy with good towels and friendly staff. Water pressure was an issue the first night with 12 fellow bicyclists on tour arriving at once wanting a shower, but the 2nd nights shower was good. The room had a microwave, mini fridge and Nespresso machine making excellent coffee. I needed more sugar which the front desk was happy to provide. The on site restaurant does have excellent food at a reasonable price. The Bad: There were several negatives; a bad smell in places on the grounds, the room needs some serious updating and needs new carpeting, there is no AC for summer and food options are limited. The deck and stairs needs cleaning. There is no TV, but you're not there for TV anyway. The Ugly: Cleanliness was an issue with several long black hairs in the bathroom and shower (I'm bald).

We stayed in the dome cabins in June 2024. Overall it was amazing. We saw orcas from our room the first night. The second day we rented kayaks and went to the island a short paddle away that’s the resting spot for dozens of seals. The seals are the most curious animals I’ve ever seen, swimming under the boat and getting within inches of us and staring us down. The domes themselves could use a couple of things. First, the space heaters aren’t really adequate if things get chilly like they do and neither are the blankets. Larger heaters and larger blankets would be a big plus. Next, there’s no coffee available on the resort before the store and pub open around 11. Including kettles and some instant coffee/tea would be a big plus. These are little things though and you won’t regret your trip here.

Backeddy Resort We highly recommend this Resort! Amazing views, quaint cabins Oceanfront. We rented two different cabins - a large one bedroom vintage cabin with the kitchenette! Perfect for a small family… We also rented an Oceanside Modern cabin with a King Bed; we woke up to Oceans views every morning; sitting on our private deck enjoying a complimentary Nespresso coffee. Now… one of the best kept secrets on the Sunshine Coast! The BackEddy Pub Just wow… from the atmosphere; delicious food items to the amazing staff. Big shout out to Amber “bartender extraordinaire”, Mike and Kyle “Chefs”. Enjoy the BackEddy Resort! Take in the wildlife, explore tidal pools, end the day with a delicious bowl of seafood chowder, after sit by a roaring campfire. Then cuddle in a comfy bed, listening to the logs crackling in the wood stove.

We had an amazing time!!!! We stayed in the new modern cabin which overlooked the water. It was stunning and so peaceful. The pub had delicious food and also had a good variety of options including gluten free and dairy free. We particularly liked the artisan salad with grilled salmon and also the salmon burger with fries. Our modern cabin had all the amenities we needed including a small fridge and a nespresso coffee maker (they supply the pods). The overall size of the cabin was spacious and we loved the sliding door and wall of windows that faced onto the ocean from our bed. This would be a great honeymoon spot or getaway for some peace and quiet. The village isn’t far (about one kilometre) and the resort is also not too far from the Skookumchuck Bakery (about 1.7km). We brought Paddleboards but be careful of the strong tides and winds. Paddling was easier at slack tide and there are many lakes around for a calm paddle or swim. We can’t wait to come back for a visit, its really a gem of a place!

Wonderful food at The Backeddy Pub. I had the Traditional Poutine ( added bacon) and my wife had the Skookum Burger. The BC Kennebec fries are amazing! Recommend seating on the patio if you can. There is a wonderful view of the waterfront. Boats come in and out throughout your visit.

My partner and I had the most wonderful stay! The staff was super friendly, the views were show stopping, and the hike up the skookumchuck was such a fun way to spend our time. We ate at the Backeddy pub as well, there was live music and a pool table, so much fun! If you are looking for a little wilderness getaway, this is the perfect spot. Will definitely be back again, hopefully in the summer! :)

We stayed in one of the water front cabins. Wonderful location, the cabins have everything you need and the wood stove is awesome to keep you warm. The Backeddy Pub - best ever Chowder Soup, Fish & Chips, Steel head trout fish tacos - the food is absolutely delicious. Can’t wait to go back for another few days of R&R
